Bobby Abreu a future Hall of Famer? What do you think?

I mean what has he not done? He joined the elite group, by collecting 250 home runs, 2,000 hits, 1,000 runs, 1,000 runs batted in, 1,000 walks and 300 stolen bases. and he will play for the 12th straight season in which he has played in at least 150 games. Pete Rose and Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Billy Williams and Cal Ripken Jr. have only accomplished that feat. He deserves it and I hope he returns to the Halos next year. I really think he deserved Halos MVP.

BQ; Do you guys think he's staying with the Angels?

If he played 2nd or short and had those numbers he'd get serious consideration. Not all that great for an outfielder.Even if he plays a few years more and continues at that pace,I doubt it. He's a good player not hall of fame caliber..If he doesn't stay with the Angels some team would gladly go after him.

No, he's not. None of those numbers point to the Hall of Fame. They point to longevity and a certain consistency, but not Cooperstown.

The fact you lump these stats together and then say Abreu is in an elite group of players is not a valid HOF argument. We all know he's nowhere near the player Rose, Mays, Williams and Ripken were, so what's the point? He happens to fit with them in this one way.

You can pretty much make a HOF case for most any player if you use seven (seven!) statistics and then say that player is among an elite group who have compiled these specific stats.

Abreu is a good player, at times very good, but not a Hall of Famer.

It will never happen. He will make it after Don Mattingly, Bernie Williams, the Crime Dog, Gil Hodges, Billy Martin, Roger Maris, Ken Boyer, Keith Hernandez, Barry Larkin, etc. etc.

There are a lot of Yankees on this list. I am not a Yankee fan. Martin and Maris should be in.

I like the guy that says he will be is 4 years after retirement. What would he have to do to do this? I guess he could give his life saving the Commissioner. Only two guys have made it without the five year waiting period Gehrig and Clemente. If anyone thinks Abreau is in this category report immediately to your nearest mental hospital.

If he makes it to the H of F it will be mainly because of the 250 HRS, 2000 hits, 1000 runs, 300 SBS. The thing that jumps out at me the most about him however is that his lifetime batiing average of, as of last night, had played in 1948 games and yet he still had a batting avg. of .300. Another thing about him is that out of his 458 sb attempts, he has reached safely 347 out of those times. My answer is yes he will make the Hall of Fame in 4 years after he retires.

And yes he will stay with the Angels next year. There was an interview I heard about with him and he said "Things are going good here, the chemistry of the team is outstanding -- I definitely want to come back."

Great player, but not an impact player.

The stolen bases and the .300 average are phenomenal numbers...but the runs scored, rbi's and hits are about average for over 1900 games..like Todd Helton...good but not HOF.

he's one of those players who will poll votes, but ultimately fall short of HOF.

I would guess he would stay with the Angels on a better contract

I think Abreu needs to add some gold gloves to his resume and some more home runs. A world series ring which he had an impact in would be nice.

Let him finish his career to determine his HOF status. At this point he is a very good player. I hope he stays with the Angels as he is a valuable player for them.

He"s one of those players that fly under the radar and goes un noticed.I would say probably not,but he"s got more time and will see what happens.

Yes, finally someone agrees with me. Maybe not 1st ballot but I definitely think he could make it. He is one of the most underrated players in baseball.

BQ: Nah, I think there are other buyers.

    No.

BQ: No, he could be with the Mets, wants to come back east.
