I lost my ring down the kitchen disposal.......what do I do?
I do not want my husband to know I am this careless. Someone please help me. If I call a plumber or tell him not to use the disposal he will know.

Turn the breaker off first. Then get a small flashlight and look in the garbage disposal. You should be able to see into it from the sink. Or get a plumber with a camera.

Whatever you do, don't turn on the disposal or run water down that side. These things are made to be removed, so with a few tools and a little common sense you can remove the disposal unit. My guess is once you remove it and turn it upside down your ring will magically appear.
If you have small enough hands, you may be able to reach down there without removing anything and fish it out. But be careful since you may end up with your ring and your wrist stuck in the disposal !

I would follow klt's advice. If don't see it in the disposal, you can get underneath the sink, put a bucket under the pipe, and unscrew the pipe.
And your husband is not going to think you're careless - my husband laughed when my ring fell into the disposal (AFTER he got it out of the sink while I was standing there freaking out.) It happens to all of us; get yourself a little ring holder or a soap dish to put next to the sink so that when you take your rings off in the kitchen they're safe.
Good luck and post an update to let us know how it turns out.

Turn it off, If you want to be extra safe turn off the circuit breaker. Most garbage disposals wouldn't allow it to pass to the trap so just stick your hand it and reach around for it.

You can stick your hand down in there and feel around. I've done it before, it's not pleasant but it's possible to feel it. Tip, don't turn it on with your hand in it. Also, it may have passed on to the P-trap. Sometimes it's also possible to take it off without tools.

Tell your husband it just slipped off when you were at the sink. If you haven't run any water, it should still be retrievable. If he gets mad, then he's a jerk.
