Cadet of the Month tips?

I go up in a week or two, and I'm a little panicked. I know a lot of the material that will be asked, but I'm still nervous - and I don't know what to expect, really. Any tips for what to expect, what to do and what not is much appreciated.

Update:

This is for Army JROTC.

Just a position of honor in my battalion.

You have to provide more information. Is this for CAP, JROTC, Army, USAF? Is it a state or local competition? If it's a state competition what state is it in? We want to help you, just let us know what we're helping you with.

In the Army you'll often have to brief your commander and/or give him reports on your status. You need to have confidence and poise as it's not always WHAT you tell him, but HOW you tell him. This is what I think when I'm briefing:

"No one knows more about this subject than me. The reason he is asking me is because he has trust and confidence in my ability."

Study, know your facts well and be confident on your abilities. The reason they're considering you for this is because you're good at what you do, a professional. Show them they chose well by doing your best and believing in yourself.

If you make a mistake, don't sweat it, you'll make another 1000 before your time is up. Mistakes are the bricks that make up the road to perfection. If they ask a question and you know you don't know it, just own up to it, say "I do not know, but I will find out, sir", and keep on fighting.

    Best of luck!
