Happy New Year? Are you kidding?

Pelosi has been speaker of the house for about 24 months. She has, with the help of the rest of Congress, managed to spend more money than the previous 25 years.

Oct 1 marks the beginning of fiscal 2010. Can we afford another year of this fiscal irresponsibility? We are already up to $38,000 of debt for every man, woman, and child in the country.

How much does your household owe?

Thanks Owe Bama.

Update:

For those who are not politically astute, Pelosi was speaker two years before Owe Bama came into office. And he was a senator during those two years, so this debt is the Democrats by 90%.

Sorry if the facts are inconvenient.

OK, the Owe Bama thing was funny. And yes, debt is a problem. We need to get a handle on it after the recession is over. But to be fair, the debt was $29,000 for every man, woman, and child in the country when Nancy Pelosi became speaker. It's not like the last president and his Republican Congress were a bastion of fiscal responsibility ($20,000 for each of us when they took over in Jan, 2001. Which just goes to show that government debt is something conservatives worry about when they aren't in power. Now that we know conservatives spend just like Democrats when they hold both the Congress and the White House, what's the point of electing them? They're a bunch of grumpy old men, so if they aren't saving us any money, why would anyone want to put up with them....except for other grumpy old men that is?

Source(s): National debt was $8,707,561 on Jan. 31, 2007. ftp://ftp.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opds012007.pdf Population was 300,000,000 when she became speaker, although census estimates are for July 1 of each year, so that is an interpolation between July 1, 2006 and July 1, 2007. http://www.census.gov/popest/states/NST-ann-est.ht... That makes $29,000 in debt for each of us when Pelosi became speaker.

  • Pelosi doesn't care. She's got her millions and when she retires from Congress, a real pretty pension to fall back on.

"She has, with the help of the rest of Congress, managed to spend more money than the previous 25 years. "

That statement is completely false. And, your "per person" figure takes into account the ENTIRE debt. (90% of which was accumulated BEFORE Obama took office) And, that doesn't even count all the money that Bush spent on war which conveniently was NOT counted in the deficit or debt.

Get your facts straight before you whine and *****.
