I believe my microphone is broken?

But I'm just not sure...

A little while ago, I bought a laptop with a built in webcam, and for the first few weeks the mic on it worked just fine, but lately it's been acting weird.

For example, if I record a video, rather than hearing myself speak, I hear a loud buzzing sound. Like, I can literally not hear myself at all.

Is my mic broken or do I just need to adjust some settings? How do I fix it? :/

I would recommend that you test the settings against the microphone by plugging in an external microphone via the microphone port. A simple set of ear-buds should suffice.

Record using your ear-buds and see if the problem remains. If the problem stops, your microphone is most likely broken. If it does work, it is something to do with you settings (or your speakers) and with the information I have been given, I do not have any solutions to that.

Go Start / Control Panel Sounds. You,probably, have to adjust microphone volume.
