righty, this is quite complicated because there are several options for each laptops. Neither one or the other is much better, but the XP would be much more handy and easier to work with than the linux. (Sorry if you're a linux fan but XP owns Linux) You will find software in general will be easier to handle with XP because its so much more popular, but because of this its more expensive.
With the XP laptop you have a choice of 160GB SATA HDD (common hard drive with a disk) or a 32GB SSD (Solid State Drive, in other words ALOT quicker and more energy efficient for longer battery but in return mor expensive, hence why its only 32GB). If you will be storing much music, video, games, programes in general i would go with the larger 160GB otherwise if ure not ganna be then the 32GB will defo be the best)
As for the webcam n mic, dont expect much, Yes its usable but there are alot better stand alone webcams which are fairly cheap.
Hope this answers your Q (I would go with the XP) :)

Depends. If you're willing to pay a little extra for a smaller hard drive and an operating system that you're probably very comfortable with, then go with the XP-loaded Dell. If you're okay with a user-friendly version of linux, then HP. I would go with the HP since the Dell 10v's hard drive is a little smaller and HP's operating system is perfect for the netbook's main functions: web browsing. Also, reviews say that HP's keyboards are the best keyboards you can find on netbooks.
