So what is happening with the West Indies?
I heard that the best players in the West Indies are on strike over contract payments, so has this been settled? Because I don't want to watch a helpless second rate West Indies over in Australia being flogged. I want the full strength team with Chris Gayle, Shiv Chanderpaul and Dwayne Bravo.
Any update on this situation?

I agree with you. The last time the Windies toured here (ages ago, mind you) Chris Gayle was not allowed to come due to behavioural issues. I love the guy, and was dying to see him play in Brisbane this year, bought tickets to the test and the one dayer, so to hear he won't be coming sucks. I'm a passionate Windies supporter, but it will be so disappointing to see a 3rd rate team lose in a whitewash. At this stage it's not looking good, but I still have my fingers crossed. Nice to see another person has the same hope! Gayle and Bravo are still lined up to play for Perth and Victoria I heard - I guess there's no contract disputes going on there!

They are still around but a lot of the West Indian youth are being drawn into other sports. There is more money and fame to be found in the likes of basketball and athletics Pity, watching the West Indies v Australia made many a childhood summer of mine, seeing Viv Richards smash a ball right out of the SCG a highlight!

Yes.
According to Dwayne Bravo the West Indies players will make themselves available for the Australian tour.
To make themselves available for the tour, all the West Indies players have to play in the Regional Carribean trophy that starts soon.
As of now Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor have been picked for their club Jamaica, meaning they will be touring Australia

The WI board is hoping to solve this and their President has announced that a full fledged team would tour Australia sans Chris Gayle as their skipper.

situation is very bad. gayle, chandra, bravo and all other guns refuse to play. it is looking as though WI will send a 2nd rate team to aus and they will get flogged. it will be very very boring and i do not reccomend that u watch it.
