Will my ShihTzu stop nursing her pups on her own ?

Or do I have to help her? they are now 7wks and she does not nurse them as often plus they are now eating ground up puppy food diluted with warm water 4 to 5 times per day, only one problem out of 3 males 1 female and she is now the smallest when they all use to be the same size, it seems her bros are bullying her and she is not getting as much as they, so as of tonight I took her out with her mom alone and let her have at it until she couldn't get anymore out of the teats, then gave her some pup food, will I have to continue this? and please I would appreciate answers to all questions from those who know them and not any criticism. Thank you so much for your help and support.

she wont have a choice when the milk dries up... Parsley... Chopped Parsley, this will help her to dry up!

the pups will continue to try getting milk, but if it don't work they'll give up! there's no point rying if it's a complette waste of thime, of course she will get annoyed so it's a good idea to give her a decent break from them once they hit 5 weeks, not all day but for a few hours so she can sleep... I've had a depressed dog as a result of no sleep, it took 4 months for that to change, she's happy again now though! (it's me with the depression instead)

  • The pups no longer need her. They also don't need to be eating ground up puppy food. They can eat the plain kibble just fine. Offer it to them just slightly moistened and make sure they eat it. They don't need the mother anymore though, thats for sure. They should have been weaned at approx. 5 weeks.
