I certainly do not want to see the Max Baucus (D-UnitedHealthcare) health care reform bill pass. It is nothing less than fraudulent to call that bill meaningful health care reform in any respect. Better to do nothing and let the whole private health insurance system collapse than to give an indefensible holiday gift basket to the special interest groups that have made the American health care the most expensive in the world at more than double the cost per capita while enjoying the worst health outcomes among its peers.
Most expensive health care by far and worst health outcomes by far. And Max Baucus wants not just to preserve this awful system but to jack up the costs and force it down the throats of every single American.
I do not want health care reform to pass in the form proposed by the Senate Finance Committee. Let it die and let Wellpoint and the other private health care insurers go around the country suing states to increase their premiums by 20% or more. (Wellpoint is now suing Maine for an 18.5% increase in its premiums.) People should opt out if they are healthy and stay in if they are not, and the whole industry will be rubble in 12-18 months.
Then we can figure out how to build a real and comprehensive health care system for far less money and much better health outcomes for everyone.

Yes. The facts below are the reason.
FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should
FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet
FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare
FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage
FACT - Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change
FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing the American people
FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland
Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

Interesting answers so far but what I don't see is people saying we need THIS health care farce to pass. I would love to see some king of health care reform but not nationalized like our current administration wants. I'm more for giving the power back to the people for their choice through tax breaks and no penalties for not getting insurance.

I want to see Health Care reform because I prescribe to the idea that suffering is bad for people. And I'm not evil.
First you need lobbying reform. (Lobbyists are, in fact, evil.) Massive lobbying reform. The government is under the heel of corporations that are failing if they aren't exploiting society to the very limit.

Yes I do. We need some form of health care reform just to cut costs alone. Extending coverage would be a big plus too.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about this bill in particular to formulate an opinion. Over all though, I do believe there needs to be something done about Health-care. I definitely do no think it right that people who are unemployed or living on fixed income or something along those lines be denied the proper care and end up dying because a highly treatable disease's cure is too expensive.
At the same time though, I don't think we should give universal Health-care to any Joe Shmoe who walks in off the street. People who don't bother to help themselves shouldn't be given any help in exchange in my opinion. The same applies to welfare for me.

Some kind of reform is needed, but NOT at the tax-payers expense! If the Government keeps on increasing the taxes on businesses, the more people will be out of a job, and we may all land up on Welfare!!

Yes, because not only the wealthy should be able to afford insurance. And that is what will happen if a public option is not passed.
Do you think these corporations want to lower their profit margins?
Premiums have gone up 130% in ten years, have your taxes?
Has your income?
Maybe if you're rich.

Yes. Drug and insurance companies have a monopoly that is hurting our economy and the health of our citizens.
