What is your thought on the swine flu shot pregnant moms!!!?
I keep going back and forth about getting the shot. I'm only 8 weeks 4 days along and I'm just scared that there will be effects on the baby. It hasn't been out for long and I know when the swine flu outbreak happened in 1976 the swine shot they made a lot of people got this syndrome from it, can't remember the name of it. When I was at my last appointment the doctors couldn't give the reassurance of everything being okay because they don't even know themselves. Is it really something to worry about or is the media just trying to scare the H"LL out of everybody??
I also got the flu shot last week and have had a nasty cold since. Ugh.... is that normal too?

I'm not getting it. I don't feel there's been enough research on it and I'm not prepared to inject something into my body, or my baby's system that I don't know enough about. That's just me though. To each their own.

I personally think the media is blowing the whole thing out of proportion. I wouldn't worry about it if your doctor hasn't recommended that you get it. I'm not getting one and I even called my doctor to ask and they told me they are leaving it up to the individual, so they aren't even pushing it one way or another. If my doctor isn't worry then neither am I. It's just another string of the flu. And the regular flu kills people every year as well, it's just because the swine flu is something new and different for the media to report on because they have nothing better to talk about in their 24 hour broadcast.
Also when I asked my doctor's office about the flu shot, they mentioned they don't recommend them for anyone in their first trimester. But said it's perfectly okay in the second or third.

It's that Gion-Barays syndrome that they warn you about in some commercials. I have no idea how to spell it though. And I am saying NO WAY! It is considered a Class C medication in pregnancy and that means it is not effectively researched on pregnant women and they have either negative or inconclusive data as to the effects on the fetus. When I got pregnant, I had to go off my Class C medication (for OCD) and onto one that was considered safer for the pregnancy. Now why would I have to do that...and then go inject myself with a vaccine that is ranked a Class C and has only been around for a few weeks. No thanks. The first vaccine caused more harm than good...why should I give the FDA another shot, just cause they tell me to. Nope, not happening. Of course, I am only about 3-5 weeks out (3.5 to due date, we will see when he comes) and that makes a difference.

Ever since I read about the 1970's issues, no way will I be taking that shot. I already got the seasonal flu shot, and that is good enough for me. The difference between the two is not that different, so I will be happy with one flu shot and in the meantime, wash my hands ALOT.

Absolutely. Positively. NOT!!!
Nor should you give it to anyone you love.
The regular flu is much more serious for one thing. That flu shot is also worthless.
The new swine flu shot has not been trialed or tested properly.
Eat right. Take vitamins. Get proper sleep. And you'll be fine.

I am not getting it. There is not enough research on it. And its a brand new vaccine. Which is quite scary. I am just going to try to prevent the flu, like everyone else... If I wasn't pregnant, maybe I would consider it, but being pregnant... I can't risk the chance that it may affect my son. Right now he is a completely healthy & I'd like to keep it that way.

I am NOT getting it. It has proved to sterilize mammals, who knows what it could do to humans. They even said that they rushed this medicine so fast they had no time to research it all. Even the medical personal in NY are picketing because they were going to be forced to get it, and now they are saying that every one is being used as guinea pigs for it. I am not getting it. Good luck and God bless.

24 weeks and not getting it. I don't get the regular flu shot I don't see a reason for this one, I'll just wash my hands more often.
