Yep. Me :) And many of the people who attend my church. We don't "claim" to do it, we really do it. No "claim" involved.

During a church retreat (I was a devout catholic for a while back then), I had the experience of speaking in tongues. It wasn't all that special, but I really pretended it was. I truly believed in God and wanted it to happen very badly. I basically just said whatever random words came to mind.

I feel bad for it now, because I don't know if all of the other people were the same, or not. I feel bad for encouraging them if they were also feeling the need to "fake it."

This was the random sounds tongues though, not the "all languages at once" Pentecost tongues.

    Yes

Sadly though there are Christians who teach and believe that

Unless a person speaks in tongues, he or she does NOT have the Holy Spirit.

Unless the person speaks in tongues, he or she is NOT saved.

They exalt tongues above every other gift. To them it is not A Gift that shows a person is filled with the Spirit but THE Gift.

I guess they never read I Corinthians 12-14.

    Yes.

Jews from many nations were in Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Pentecost. When the 120 received the Spirit and began to speak in tongues, many of these visitors began to gather, with fourteen foreign lands being represented (Acts 2:5-11). These foreign Jews began to hear the various languages of their native countries and marveled that uneducated Galileans could speak all these foreign tongues.

Some people assert that God performed this miracle so the foreigners could hear the gospel preached to them, but a short time later Peter delivered a sermon to all of them in one language. This was probably Aramaic, the native language of all Jews at that time, or possibly Greek, the international language of commerce. At any rate, the audience did not need the miracle of tongues to bring them the gospel message.

Yes. Several people at my church including me. Tongues and Interpretation are Gifts of the Spirit.

It is human nature to be critical or make fun of something one does not understand. Be cautious, the unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

i spoke in toungues at one time. even had a telepathic conversation with a horse.

however, many people i have seen speaking in toungues seems to be more of babbling than not

stephan Quayle testified (or someone else) of speaking in tongues where the people hearing the message had to correct the Interpreter.

the gift of tongues exists in our generation more than anything.

I think that some of the xians in R&S speak in tongues on-line. Their questions are so garbled and their grammar and spelling so tortured, I don't even understand their questions sometimes.
