What's the best Arabic language program in Yemen?

I'm looking to study Arabic abroad. I have taken six semesters of college level Arabic, but it's been a year or two since I've studied it. I'm a little rusty.

There are a dozen different schools in Yemen offering Arabic instruction. Which ones are accredited by Yemen's government or a university?

I am interested in studying in an inexpensive program in a country where the local dialect is not too far off from standard Arabic. For this reason, I don't want to study in Egypt or Morocco.

Yemen is a great choice for Arabic and also the culture. Just make sure you stay in the capital Sana'a and don't attempt to travel northwards. ;-)

I can personally recommend CALES ( http://www.calesyemen.com/ ), which is based in the old part of Sana'a. Get the 1-on-1 tuition and you should be able to progress pretty fast. Just make sure you let your teacher(s) know exactly what your aims are (i.e. listening, formal Arabic, writing letters etc.).

They have their own dialects in Yemen, but I had no problems communicating in Modern Standard Arabic/fusHa in Sana'a.

I hope you'll enjoy your time in Yemen!
