Should Conservatives alter the bible or is it good enough already?

The Bible is being revised by conservatives who think it has gotten too liberal. Conservatives have decided to edit out the liberal parts.

That's the inspiration behind the Conservative Bible Project, which seeks to take the text back to its supposed right-wing roots.

Does a conservative bible help ALL of the people?

At the end of Revelations says that the Bible shall not be altered so I guess that they are really going to pi$$ their God off.

First off, I do NOT think most conservatives even know about this, much less support it.

From what I understand, the goal of this product is to have a modern, yet accurate translation that does NOT include the PC stuff that most other modern versions have. But I have read about this project from the site itself and am concerned they are replacing liberal translations with conservative translations, instead of just focusing on an ACCURATE translation.

As far as whether it would benefit ALL people or not, if you believe in the inerrency of the Bible, then an ACCURATE translation would help ALL people. Now, whether an accurate translation might be liberal or conservative is another matter, but I do think the Bible should be translated accurately and not adjusted to fit current ideas, whether liberal or conservative.

I keep seeing this on here, but I still do not believe it's true. I think whatever this supposed "Conservative Bible Project" is, it is not about politics. The term liberal and conservative have different meanings within theological interpretation of the Bible than within politics.

The Bible is not subject to private interpretation. It says what it says and we already have the ability to take the King James version back to the original languages it was written in--I sometimes use my Strong's Concordance to do this when I want original context or meaning of a verse because our English language has fewer words with many different meanings compared to the Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic the Bible was written in originally.

How can you alter the Bible when it was written 2000 years ago? Whatever it says it says. I never heard this so maybe I should just shut up. If it is going on then that's crazy.

Personally, I believe as a mostly-conservative Christian, that the bible should be left as it was originally. The most important messages come through before editing.

You assume that conservatives are Christians. Most conservatives actually aren't Christians. It's the vice versa: most Christians happen to be conservatives.

That's a group of extremists, who obviously don't speak for all Christians. Frankly, there are arguments on both sides, of that one. The Bible maintains that a woman's place is to support a man. I disagree with that one. But you can't rewrite it, either.

Now... if you want to talk politics. Considering you're in the politics section... how do you feel about Obama altering the Constitution?

That's a little more relevant, considering his current movement to alter freedom of speech. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Artic...

They can TRY! They want to alter it to meet their selfish needs. OMG, can you believe this? Lets see, what does the last few verses in the bible say? LMAO Revelation 22:18-19 says, "I, John, solemnly warn everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: if any add anything to them, God will add to their punishment the plagues described in this book. And if any take anything away from the prophetic words of this book, God will take away from them their share of the Holy City, which are described in this book.

It doesn't bother those of us who don't believe in it anyway. As for the link, this is from a very conservative version of wikipedia called "conservapedia":

this sounds like a hoax to stir up folks, but who knows. But if you want an oldschool Bible you can get one from the Gideons free of charge.
