Can I get my ticket dismissed if the ticket has wrong information on it?

I was going 35mph in a school zone that was 20mph. I drive a 2000 Mazda Protege. On the ticket the officer put that it was a 2000 Toyota Protege. Can I get this ticket dismissed?

If I can't get it dismissed and I go to Defensive driving, will this affect my insurance?

No you won't get it dismissed. You can have the point removed by taking a class and get the insurance discount.

The vehicle details are a minor issue. The only fact that matters is you were pulled over, the infraction is clearly noted and all the information from your license is there (proving it was you).

Sorry to say it will not get dismissed because of vehicle information. Since it was a school zone, you'd best appear in court and try to make a deal. Plead no contest and ask for probation while you go to traffic school. The alternative (being found guilty) will cost you points and definitely affect your insurance rate.

Most likely no. They will go by the license plate. Before you go the driving class route I would check the cost of doing so. Some can be several hundred dollars. A minor infraction will most likely not raise your insurance rates unless you have more tickets.

I don't think you can get it dismissed unless the plate information is wrong. Yes your insurance will go up with any infraction against you~

  • Obviously not.

If you're not going to use common sense (clerical errors don't change the fact that you broke the law) at least use the Yahoo Answers Search Bar to see that this question has been asked thousands of times.

Grow up, take responsibility for your actions, and slow down.

Not likely. You have to pay the fine. Going to traffic school will keep it from effecting your insurance.

Minor clerical errors such as this do not invalidate citations.

If you complete traffic school (assuming you're eligible), the violation will not hit your insurance.

I highly doubt it. You could make a complaint, since this has happened to me once before, but it probably won't mean anything.
