97 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0?

will not idle until it is warmed up what sensor could this be. once its warms it runs great. just on the initial start it wont stay running

    Hey man, check the throttle body/intake. I had this same problem on a 92 toyota, and on my 02 grand cherokee, it just gets dirty and sticks until everything warms up. $5.00 for a can of intake cleaner later, and it fixed the problem both times.

  • sounds like either a fuel control issue or a temperature sensor that is out of range. look at freeze frame data and see what the computer is doing to adjust for the situation. fuel trim is more than likely way out of range.

    sounds like the throttle position sensor needs adjusted. or it could be the fuel filter too. dirt could be settling in it overnight and slowing down the flow of fuel.

    its the throttle body getting stuck open,very common on grand cherokee's.just need to have the throttle body cleaned out and you will be fine
