Whey protein question?
I am currently consuming whey protein, 1 gram per 1 lb of my body weight. Is it advisable to take whey protein even on idle days?
Currently, I only drink on work-out days, morning and after my evening work out

A few things:
(1) You should only use whey protein for pre-and-post workout nutrition. It's not really effective for building muscle when used at any other time.
(2) You're better off getting your protein from "real" food whenever possible. Egg protein is still one of the best "real" food sources for building muscle.
(3) If you need to supplement your protein intake in order to get that one gram of protein per one pound of body weight per day, you may want to consider using casein protein -- especially on non-workout days.

There is no reason not to get as much protein on rest days, since you take rest days to allow your muscles time to grow and recover, and that's what you want the protein for. But I believe the point of whey protein products is to get the protein into your system quickly. You want a boost of protein 20-30 minutes after your workout, so it's good to have a direct way of getting it. On a rest day, it probably makes more sense to get your protein from normal food sources.
Edit: By the way, it's not necessary for you to consume 1g of whey protein for each pound of bodyweight, if that's what you really meant. What you want is something like 1-1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight per day. It can come from any source.

Whey protein has lots of amino acids. They cause your pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone, and you start to feel young and energized. It's GREAT stuff for athletes. It you take it your whole life, you will look 45 years old when you are 65 years old. Sorry, but I don't know the difference between isolate and regular. I buy mine from GNC and have a nice chocolate milkshake everyday. Actually, I haven't done that for a few months, but I like to do it and will again before too long.

In complete honesty. I say play with it and see what your body does. I only say this for one reason. I am cheap. I hate paying for the stuff on top of a already big grocery bill. I takeproteinn shakes mostly after work out and in the morning. These tend to be most beneficial to me. I qui taking on days off. I really did not see any benefit in comparison to when I did. I suggest you do your own experimentation. You have no danger of taking to much.
Source(s): I say morning becuase I seldom have time to eat breakfast first thing shakes are easy. Untill I get a break at work for real food. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

Protein, while it may help your body in a lot of ways, can be taken many ways. Make sure you a whey protein, with your BCAAs. (branched-chain amino acids). Get as much as you can from natural sources, and make sure you are getting fiber from vegetables to balance your blood sugar!

on workout days u would probably need a little bit of extra protein.. but even on non workout days u still need good protein because your body needs to recover and grow..
so its still important to consume protien as your body still has to function.. i would still have one whey shake on non workout days...
