Where there is any human interaction, there is pain. The pain of love seems greater because the amount of self-deception involved - the worst betrayal is your own delusions.

I read that "love is giving someone the power to hurt you terribly and hoping they don't". I've never been in love but it sounds spot on to me somehow.

Absolutely true because love makes you more vulnerable, so things that would not have mattered if you weren't in love hurt you now.

Only the people that we love have the power to hurt us.... let me try to simplify that.... if we do not care for someone, their opinions and actions do not affect us emotionally.

Love hurts...only love can break your heart...so many songs and poems have tried to cover this topic. It's all worth it though...without love, we are nothing.
