How fast could I run a mile?
Is it talent to be able to run a mile in under six minutes or can a slower runner train to be able to?

Training can do a lot of different things. It's harder for girls to get better than guys. I don't know why. Some girls are just freaky good runners.
Although, that's to go without saying that hard work can make you a lot better runner. Some girls would never be able to break 6 minutes no matter how hard they try, but it can be done by most based on you age, height, and amount of training.

Some people are naturally built to run and others are not. While anyone can train to improve their run time, the fastest I was ever able to run a mile in the army was about 8 minutes. There were other girls that were doing it in 5... it blew my mind. I always felt like I was going to die and throw up blood. I could max out sit-ups and push-ups but the 2 mile run was a real struggle for me. I think the main thing is just control your breathing and keeping good form when running.

I can, and to be honest I'm a pretty terrible sportsman.
A great deal of running capability is your build - certain details in the length of your legs, the way you breathe, your lung capacity, etc. It is, of course, possible to train, but this is mostly to do with your heart and lungs, and to a lesser extent with long-distance running, your muscles. This is because stamina is required, even when running a relatively short distance like a mile.
To answer the second part of your question, it very much depends what your current capability (and time) is now. If you're under, say, 8 minutes, then it's certainly possible. Anything over that would be difficult, but not impossible.

We were all made to run it's why we have a Nuchal ligament, Achilles tendon and a large Gluteus Maximus they all stabilize us while running. That's why we stand upright, so we can breathe more than one time per step unlike most other running mammals which cannot breathe more than once per step, we can take 2,3 or even 4 if needed!. It's the reason we have short toes, long toes only help walking and climbing, not running. The reason we sweat is so we can run for longer distances and not overheat like most other mammals who have to stop and pant to cool down. And don't buy into that "you're not built to run" crap, we were all made to be the best endurance runners on the planet our feet and legs were designed to absorb the shock of running, only 2% of the World's 6 billion+ people have bad bio-mechanics.

Some people, like me, are not naturally built to run. My mile time is around 9 minutes. That is a lot faster than my very first mile time (about 5 minutes faster). I guess some people can train to run a 6 minute mile.

I think its possible. I used to run 11 min miles a few years ago, but i joined my school's Cross Country team and now my best time is at 5:53, and trust me, no one was a worse runner than me!
