As a Registered Nurse I tend to use epinephrine spray. At other times I use Ephedrine. Both of these medications work by constricting the blood vessels. They do not treat the underlying cause.

Sometimes I use oral Benadry (an antihistamine) because my nasal congestion is often the result of allergic problems.

Make sure you know the cause of your congestion before you treat it. It is best to treat the underlying cause. If you treat the underlying cause then the congestion will clear.
