What is the best dog food?
What is the best dog food, in your opinion?I have a 2 year old, 20/lb cocker-spaniel/poodle mix who is currently eating Iams. We know it's junk and so we want to change it . . . our thoughts are Innova, Orijen, Go, and Artemis. What would you recommend?
Thanks!

There are so many great options for your pup! I would steer away from Iams, as you already know! So, this is a great page for dog food reviews. This page rates the top organic/all-natural dog foods on the market with specifications for small breeds, over weight dogs etc...

This page is called the Healthy Label Test and it allows you to input information from your dogs food to get a better idea of the quality and how it stacks up to other foods. It gives it a score 1-5 and is really easy to use...if you're interested, it can be helpful!

You already mentioned Innova which is one I was gonna say, but another good one is Harvest Legacy. But in my opinion, any dry kibble that has been cooked and processed isn't that good for dogs. I recommend a raw bones and raw food diet. Do some research on the the internet, or even better, buy some books about it. You'll be surprised, I've been feeding my dogs this way for two years and they are thriving on it. One of my dogs was nine years old when I made the switch from Iams to a raw food diet and her bad breath went away, she stopped shedding, she got her waist back, and has lots more energy. It's amazing. Look up Ian Billinghurst online to get started.

When did chicory, carrots, peas, apples and cranberry grow to be puppy meals components? There is not a lot truly change among those meals. One makes use of bird and turkey, the opposite most effective makes use of bird. Neither makes use of corn or wheat. The greatest change is the end result and greens within the bird soup manufacturer. Both are made via the identical corporation and its a well wager that the fundamental components come from the identical assets. Unless there may be an allergic reaction trouble your puppy will probably be first-class with both meals. Feed whichever one is simpler to get. The fees are near sufficient to the identical, mainly for the reason that how baby pomeranian will consume. If you had been feeding a running puppy you would discover a change among the ones meals however now not with a natural loved ones puppy.

A dog is a carnivore and ideally requires 70% meat protein daily. If you were to look at the back of the dog food bag you will see that all popular brands found at stores like Pets-Mart use grain fillers and only guaranty 12-17% crude protein. Brands such as Evo or Instinct are made from beef, buffalo, venison, carrots, potatoes and without any grain fillers. They guaranty 42% meat protein. This type of dog food is more expensive and only found in feed stores. My advise would be to read the label.

In my opinion, Orijen. I've been feeding it for about two years and can't recommend it enough. I went through close to a dozen foods before arriving at this one, and this is, so far, the only one I have been 100% satisfied with in every way. Taste-wise, my dogs seem to like Orijen's 6 Fish formula best.

I use Go (Go natural) the chicken formula.
I really like the way it makes their coats soft, less BM (that means less to pick up!! :) and they love love love the food - I can even use it as treats for them they love it that much.
We have 3 dogs (7, 14, and 54 lbs) So the Go would work nicely. You have to feed less than comparable brands of the Go because it has such good quality so the cost of the food evens out a bit more. I'm sure other brands are just as good too - but this is the one I have experience with.

All the foods you have suggested are great, because they don't contain corn and lots of "filler ingredients" like Iams does. If you can stomach handling raw meat, then the raw diet is a good idea, obviously though, it's not for everyone and needs to be introduced gradually. it's all about personal choice and what works for your dog. Personally I would recommend raw feeding or feeding home cooked meat with rice and vegetables with a bit of gravy to moisten it, but that's me.
Congrats on making the effort to switch to a healthy food. Good luck with your pup :)

All of the ones you listed are good foods. I way prefer the grain free foods, but by far the Raw Diet has made the biggest and most astonishing improvements in my dogs health.

All the ones you listed plus Canidae, Taste of the Wild, Merrick, Wellness, and Solid gold.
But Raw is the absolute best. :)

From what I hear Canidae, Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, and Taste of the Wild is pretty good.
