Which is tackier: Juicy Couture or Betsey Johnson?

Clearly both are tacky with their over-embellishments and garish writing all over their products, but I just want to know what the consensus is on which is truly the tackiest "designer" brand?

Here's my take: They're both childish and ugly, and make anyone carrying them look like a fashion victim. I guess I can give a pass to those under the age of 14 (though any parent who lets their daughter go out with the word Juicy splashed across her butt and a $300 purse is insane)!

Also, don't try to tell me I'm saying this because I can't afford Juicy-- I buy Coach, Dooney and Bourke, Ralph Lauren, and other brands.

Update:

Oh goodness, I wish I had put Ed Hardy on there too!!

And or those who do think Dooney and Bourke is tacky I will agree-- some of their plastic material bags are awful, as are some of Coach's recent designs. But as a general rule, I never like anything across the butt of pants or shorts, be it "PINK," "JUICY," or anything else. It's just not classy. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

Update 2:

Holy cow I knew this would be a little polarizing, but I would think most people would see that I'm not being 100% serious in the degree to which I'm criticizing them (even though I do hate Juicy and Betsey Johnson). I really don't appreciated being called names over it (the simple fact that I said that some of the brands I buy can be tacky in some designs is a simple show of that). Anyways, I love how riled up people can get over these things... hahaha, if you can't take a critique of what you're wearing though of one random person on the internet who you don't know and will never meet, you've got bigger problems. (also, I never claimed to know anything about fashion, just my own opinion--- get over it people!)

    Haha I love your question.

Tough call...Juicy velour tracksuits tend to be quite nasty, especially the ones with bumprints. And then we have Betsey Johnson...leopard print overload...nope, it's just too tough for me, so I'll pick ED HARDY!

I think Marc Jacobs, Betsey Johnson, Dianne Von Furstenberg, and Coco Chanel. =) Not a fan of juicy couture though, it's sorta tacky. But kidrobot is ok.

I so agree with you on this one if you're going to buy designers buy classy ones. Although the sweatsuits are terrible I think that juicy couture is way less tacky because at least their ad campaigns are good. Betsey Johnson is just ridiculous.

    Neither of them really.

Betsey Johnson purposely makes her clothing look tacky, that's her style. It's called kitsch, and if you know so much about fashion as you say you do, you should've known that.

Juicy has more couture clothing for people who don't like those things, though it's more expensive.

Juicy and Betsey are just for the more...loud, eccentric people.

So it's not necessarily tacky, just a different style.

Well, any "designer" brand is absolutely ridiculous. I'm fifteen and i find it a little pathetic that a woman would spend such hefty amounts of money on branded bags to carry their junk. Why not put that money to good use? Designer accessories are like a symbol of social status, well in my opinion they are. It's like, if you don't have one, then you're poor. It's just like the 60s when people wore hats to declare their status. One time I was even attacked by a fellow classmate for not really taking interest in her new coach wristlet. She claimed i was jealous of her and her worth. She thought by having an overpriced portable pocket of leather, she was a better person then i was.

But.. to answer your question Betty Johnson is tackier.

Betsey johnson. some of each are not so tacky and actually are tasteful...like juicy's swimwear and some of betsey johnson's day dresses and little black dresses. many fashion passion people who are going to school to become designers themselves believe that coach and D&B are really tacky as well. u view those brands u named as tacky and others view a couple of the ones u listed that you use as tacky...different people have different fashion sense.

I don't think either is tacky. It's not any tackier than people wearing "Pink" splashed across their butt and that's a very, very popular brand and I buy Pink for my girls and they look really cute in those clothes.

I think it all depends on the person and their style. People have different ideas about what they like. While you think Juicy or Betsey Johnson is tacky, there are others that hate Dooney & Bourke. It's all a matter of individual taste.

I think that everyone has their own style. I mean everyone has their own opinion. And personally, I will not judge any type of clothing, style, look, or anything. Neither is tacky. I mean you may think that, but keep it inside, please. It can hurt someones felling like my friend, Diana here. Listen here hun, you can't say they are childish and ugly, that's just your opinion. I try to say this as nice as possible, but there's no other way to say please stop judging people and close your mouth unless you want me to start cussing, which I believe is extremely inn appropriate for this situation. And again, giving a pass to those under 14? C'mon! People all around the world have different styles. So just because someone is Muslim you are going to start talking about how badly they dress. Well, I think their clothes are beautiful. So please, again i ask you, to keep your thoughts inside your head.

Dooney and Burke. Not tacky. They are nice leather purses made from either black, brown, or beige, the common colors. You even said you bought Dooney and Burke! Anyway, please do not share mean opinions out loud. i thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.
