Your dad could make a little wooden house and then you can make a little hammock right next to the house by sewing. Just be creative. You can also make a little food bowl made of wood with a stepping stool to reach it (made of wood)
Try to make this:

There are many homemade items in my guinea pigs cage. First in a corner i have a PVC pipe that i found for 1.00 at the store, the pipe is a corner one a rounded one so that my guinea pig can run through it and also if any rodents chew on it it cannot hurt them it will only help break down they're teeth. I also have a little play house in my bedroom to put her in it is made out of cardboard boxes, extra carpet, bedding, plastic, and wood. The first floor is kinda a eating room and resting room with a wooden box ( A bed or house.). Then there's a ramp that leads to the second floor and that has a PVC pipe LONG tunnel that she LOVES! The second floor also has a small jingling ball that she rolls around. I also have a HUGE sock that i filled up with cotton and put it in her house and now shell carry it around and sleep with it! Good luck!

hey you can get sooooo creative with this if you really try but you will definitely need ur dads help. get Him to make a beach house that is small enough to fit in the cage. You can make some small curtains to go in the windows. You could put sand or wood chips whatever on bottom. Maybe a Hammock hanging on a small plant tree (fake or real). If filled with sand then you could put a small wood walkway coming from the house as a path and a little sign that says (rats name) Beach. If wood chips put park instead of beach. really do the house up nice and realistic. If your dads a Carpenter then he should be able to come up with a good plan with you. Have fun.

For my rats I do the following: Take a few papers towels, roll some frozen peas in them and hang it from the top of the cage, your rats will have a ball trying to get the treats down! as they get better at it, use papertowel cardboard rolls, the thing left when all your papertowels are gone, toilet paper ones work too. Grab a few speghetti noodles and cover them in a small amount of peanut butter, instant immediate attention, now try to put them in different places around the cage. Put a bell on a string, hang it down in a hard to reach spot. Get creative!

Hi!
I know you don't want us to suggest paper rolls, but they really make lovely toys for rattys and they thoroughly enjoy them. :)
Also, a tupperware lid full of water and clean pebbles with sweetcorn and peas hidden is a source of endless fun for rattys!:)
Right, as for things you can sew. There are things like hammocks (normal material on the bottom with a fleecy top layer to keep them warm), snuggle cubes, corner hammocks (which attach to the corner, thus saving space)... lots of things!
Unfortunately, I couldn't for the life of me describe them. But, for examples on what type of things you can make, go on this website;
I buy all of my things for my rattys from there and they love them!
Good luck and have fun!

you can buy fabrics and sew them to make hammocks for the rats to sleep in and tubes and tie them on the sides of the cage for the rats to run around in
