I have a remington 870 Express, is this normal wear and tear?

Ok, so my question is about the ejector part of the 870. After about 250 rounds the parkerized finish on my 870 is starting to show signs of wear and tear already (you can see some metallic reflection since the parkerized finish was getting "broken" into by all the cycling) Is this normal for the 870? I know mossbergs wont get this because their ejector ports arent curved, instead its flat, so it wont rub against the inside of the chamber. Please help. I also provided a picture to show you what part exactly im talking about. (the picture isn't mine btw)http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/flipballa4l...

As the other two commenter's have stated it is normal wear and does not hurt the functional ability of the 870. You can not beat an 870 for workmanship and dependability.

I have an 870 Express that I have had for almost 20 years and it shows some wear, but keeps on shooting perfectly.

    Look at the big picture.....

Its a 12 guage shotgun --- Not a 1949 mercury... Those you don't want to get a scratch on.....

But a Remington 870 is nothing to worry about --- They are a tool, not a collectors item..... Your scratches are normal. Expect the gun to get some blems and scratches after awhile.....

If this annoys you then do what I do.... Buy 2 of every firearm....

Take a look at this photos... Notice how I have 2 Remington 870 7 shot shotguns?.... One never leaves the house and is flawless.... The other has seen lots of use and features the usual grime, scratches and dings....

All guns will show where and tare after being used. From your pics there is little wear on your 870 it looks new to me. I have a Remington 870 wingmaster and a 1100 with wear but shoot as good as new.Your guns will show signs of wear and tear no mater what brand you buy.I would not trade my old Remington's for 10 brand new mossbergs. The only way to keep you gun new is to not use it .

My 37 year old 870 is blued, not parkerized. It has a number of wear points where no bluing exists anymore. I keep the weapon clean and take care of it. There is no rust on the old girl. You do the same and the gun will probably out last you.

normal. My Express has shot thousands of rounds. It shows wear on the slide parts, and you can also tell exactly where I put my hands and where my cheek rests on the stock. Still shoots every time, it just has a little more character now.

Yes, it's pretty normal. I have the same wear on mine and have shot many more rounds than 250. Just be sure you keep the gun well cleaned and oiled.

It is normal for parkerizing to be removed at wear points. It in no way will harm your gun. Remember it is a coating, like paint, but much more durable, that will wear off after time and use.

Don't worry.....the outside of the gun is fine.....you are talking about a very small piece that works hard to grab the shell. Just keep it oiled up.
