Can I clean my fog machine?

My fog machine seems to be clogged, almost to the point where it won't smoke anymore. Is there an easy method of cleaning this?

There are instructions to regularly clean any fog machine in the fog machine's instruction manual. Generally they include cleaning at regular intervals *before* the mechanism gets clogged - using distilled water (any other water, tap or bottled or whatever can have dissolved minerals that will clog the mechanism even more).

If it is already clogged, taking it apart and cleaning it generally won't work - the tiny "pipes" that carry the fog juice will be too full of stuff and reaming a tiny wire through could result in breaking the wire inside the mechanism and/or packing the stuff clogging even tighter. Yes, I had the same problem and yes, I tried cleaning it and yes, I did not follow the instruction manual for regular cleaning, and yes, I need to replace my fog machine... but no, I did not break any wire off in the tiny pipe, but when nothing came out the other end, I am pretty certain whatever residue was in there got packed tighter...

BUT, since it is already pretty much broken, you have three choices:

    1) Replace the fog machine.

    2) Have the fog machine repaired by the manufacturer.

    3) Take it apart and try to fix it yourself. It can't get much worse. Remember, the way they work is by heating the fog juice. That heater gets hot. Yes, I got minor burns on my fingers when I was impatient after taking it apart, trying to fix it, putting it back together, testing, finding it was still not working and taking it apart again before it cooled sufficiently. Yes, I read the label on the fog machine that said "Do Not Open This Case, No User Serviceable Parts Inside"... and all the other warnings about not opening the case... and be sure to UNPLUG it if you do ANYTHING.

    Safety first!
