The answer is yes you can work with Linux anything you can do with windows you can do better with Linux, Windows 7 not out yet, It's still 5 years behind the times compared to Linux

Windows 7 is a upgrade to Vista. Vista was a upgrade of XP..

If you can't do without windows then you can do a dual boot system and pick which you want to boot into at boot up. If you are thinking of trying Linux out then I would suggest you download any of the choices below. which are the easiest to learn having said that Linux in like windows GUI Point and click on menus and Icons. The difference is the programs and file names are different but once you learn what they are then life becomes easy using Linux.

There are loads and loads of tutorials and videos for Linux, I install Linux on old peoples computers some are 70.and 80 yrs old, they have no problems with Linux, so why should you have problems

    Windows:

You can get the vista install disk and do an upgrade from xp to vista. Windows 7 will not let you do an upgrade from xp to windows 7. You will have to do a new install, after coping your xp files to a safe place, or upgrade from xp to vista to windows 7. You cannot upgrade at all from linux to windows.

    Linux:

If a computer can run xp well it can run any version of linux well. You can install linux as a dual boot, have the option to select linux or windows when you start the computer, but you have to read the instructions carefully. If you make a mistake you could damage some windows files. Linus is not hard just different from linux. THe important thing is to read the linux documentation to learn how to use linux and do things the linux way.

    Good luck.

most any machine capable of running XP can run linux. Where you may run into problems is in programs you have purchased and are currently using. Most have equivalents in linux, but not all. There may also be some drivers that you will have to search for.

The great news is that the linux community is growing constantly and forums exist that will give answers to most all questions concerning applications and drivers. Also you will notice most large vendors include linux drivers on their support pages.

Yes you also have the ability to follow the Microsoft path and that choice is yours. Either Vista or 7 will install and replace your XP. There even is a compatibility test available from Microsoft to indicate where problems may occur.

The first thing you might notice is a decrease in performance, missing drivers, programs that no longer operate --- wait, that sounds like loading linux but more money. You will however retain your files and settings.

I had an aspire one xp version and it ran vista fine, as for windows 7 I wouldn't know completely, but it should as 7 is a better version then vista, and isn't as much of a resource hog. Best thing to do is to download the RC from microsoft and try it out. Also google installing windows 7 from a usb drive, that will help and be much faster then burning it to a disc and using the dvd to install. Just be be warned 7's download will take about 5 hours maybe more maybe less depending on your speed. as it's 2.5 to 3GB in size. I have it on noe pc now and am getting ready to put it on my gaming rig. Microsoft will also support RC until June 2010 according to CPU Magazine and others.

it really depends on how good your computer is

if i was you and i had xp i would upgrade to 7 cause 7 runs quiet okay on computers that has XP

Vista it depends how good your computer is it will run good on good computers but very slow on normal ones

linux...your computers a waste... in my opinion linux doesn't need good configuration to install. so if you really want linux just by a cheap computer or netbook with linux on it
