Neon Tetra fish - shy ?

So these fish are suppose to be lively ?

Mine aren't! The only time they're lively is when I feed them. I have about 10 and they just swim at the back.

I thought they'd be all darting about the tank. Any ideas ?

because of their size neon's fall prey to most larger fish therefore shy what other fish do you have in your tank? it could be that they are scared of something or just an acclamation problem (not used to tank yet ) how long have you had them in your tank? try adding some large leafy plants in the front of your tank for them to hide in such as amazon sword,or possibly java ferns plastic or real wont make much difference aquariumplants.com has a good list of different plants to research driftwood or rocks could also be used to reach this goal

I don't see a problem, these fish are not a lively type and spend a lot of time sitting around. Do you have plants and decoration in the tank around the back and sides?

Aye,probably water quality. You do know what sort of water they require, don't you? Maybe some research is in order.

Also when one is a bite-sized fish a little shyness is a survival tactic.
