Saving Lives... Have you ever saved one?

Have you ever saved someone's life? I'd love to hear the story!!

I saved my sister's life...

One day our family decided to go swimming in the local pool. Rebecca (my younger sis) and I were swimming in the deep end of the pool while my younger step sisters swam in the shallow end with floatation devices. Well, I just so happened to get out of the pool, when I glanced to the shallow end, I saw my younger sister (Jessica) jump into the deep end without any floats. She was told not to swim without floats, but she tried anyways. I saw her sinking to the bottom, ran and dived in the saver her. I swam her back to the shallow end and scolded her for not listening to anyone about floats. I was about 10 years old. I am proud of myself for being a great hero. :)

***STAR*** if your a cop, nurse, firefighter, doctor, or if you've saved a life!!

Update:

D, yes that is SAVING a life. No one else jumped in to save her and she was sinking to the bottom of the pool... lets do some math... Pool full of water + not knowing how to swim = drowing...

Your a fkn idiot.

    My "best friends" life.

Ever since I knew her, she practically suffered from some kind of depression, it was pretty scary because when she wanted to hurt herself she would find an object to do it with, even if it wasn't potentially dangerous.

I still think she was a little bit of an attention seeker though. Her wrists were like patch work quilts, with all the razor gashes. She sliced her wrists, hips, legs, everything. It's was pretty horrific. No one could put up with her for as long as I did.

There has been a few occasions where I have had to take her to the hospital, talk sense into her and try and make her see that there's more to life than what she was going through currently. (what was making her depressed)

I have found her, called ambulances for, made people aware of her situation. There's so many times she could of bled to death, basically.

And even though our friendship got too much on my part, she is alive, well and "better" without as many problems as before living a life that I always told her was possible.

Makes me feel proud to be the only friend to stick by her through all of this, where her family and other friends didn't.

Being a ICU Nurse for many years, I have saved alot of lives. Most people have no idea how well trained ICU Nurses are in advanced life support, or who handles the emergency at 2 in the morning when the doctors are gone!. I remember a heart attack patient who was two days post MI. He was doing well, and was sitting on the side of the bed watching TV and enjoying some ice chips. I had just walked out of the room when I heard the Monitor Tech yell "Randy, bed 2 is in v-fib" I ran back in the room to find my patient slumped on the bed, not breathing, in ventricular fibrillation. Another Nurse was right behind me with the crash cart, so as one started CPR, I hooked the patches up and started to charge the defibrillator. I hollered clear three times and shocked him with 200 joules. This dude opened his eyes like "what the heck" as his rhythm converted to a normal sinus. I said welcome back and started the lengthy process of drawing labs, hanging medications, and notifying the doctor.

Yes, I gave my younger sister the Heimlich maneuver when a jelly bean got lodged in her throat. We were young, maybe 11 & 10 years old at the time.

    Yeah.

It was at a house party.

A girl was sleeping in the bed, me and my boyfriend decided to escape from the party..we were on the floor....

I could hear her vomiting. I got straight to her, sat her up, she was still asleep, and I had to do the deed of sticking my fingers down her throat to clear her airway. Not pleasant.

Good job I was feeling horny that evening. :P
