interracial marriages are perverted and wrong!!! they're not the norm and never will be! doesn't matter what the pc crowd or the government or hollywood say's it will always be an abnormal relationship that will produce abnormal offspring!

I am a Republican and I find this outrageous and ridiculous. He can dislike the idea if he feels the inclination to be a bigot, but to deny the couple a license is insane.

And he's been refusing to marry interracial couples for 35 years. How the heck did they put up with it so long?

Is there any kind of law that says he can make that call? If there still is some stupid law ont he books that says he can.. then I guess he is in the right.

However, if he just did this out of racism and prejudice.. then he should be thrown off the bench.

What do you mean 'why is the deep south this way'? We aren't. I live in the south and I was just as outraged as anyone else when I read this article. A few people do something wrong and suddenly we're ALL RACIST. You're ridiculous and stereotypical for thinking the south or 'deep south' is racist.

i suppose that a judge, justice of the peace, or preacher has a right to refuse to marry any couple they choose.

i've read news stories about preachers that wouldn't marry a couple because they had tattoos, or because the woman was older than the man, or they weren't dressed in "good" clothes worthy of a 'wedding'. a myriad of reasons. he probably doesn't approve of mixed race marriages. they have a right to marry, but he had a right to refuse to perform the wedding. they should just move on.

if a hair dresser doesn't like to see people with their hair dyed bright green she has a right to refuse to do the job on someone. right? you just move on & go to someone else. it doesn't have to be so difficult.
