Mustangs in Nationwide?

What do you think about Ford having the Mustang race next year in the Nationwide series? Will this open the door for other models like Camero?

Update:

Thank you mvette78 for the correct spelling. I'm clearly a MUSTANG gal. Drive a '66.

I think its great and all other brands should have to follow suite. If the production version isn't a RWD V8 then it shouldn't be on the track, I mean come on isn't the thought of actually racing Tauruses and Camry's boring, but thinking about racing camero's mustangs and challengers is cool, I know the race cars are all cookie cutters but it would still bring more excitement to the sport

  • I think it's awesome. I don't think there ugly either. Dodge is using the Challenger too. GM already said no to a Camaro.(there is no 'E' in Camaro)

aorton27, The Nationwide COT has a 5 inch shorter wheel base. The body's are completely different. It's not a Cup Ford Fusion with Mustangs stickers! Even the enclave on the sides of the Mustang are real.

I hope it does open the door to actual sports cars like the Camaro (not Camero) and the Challenger. I like the Mustang in Nationwide, makes it look cool. I would love to see them all in the Sprint Cup Series. I even think Toyota is coming out with a sports car to compete with the likes of the Mustang and Camaro etc. So that would be great to see all of them with a sports car in the field every week.

Have you seen a picture of one? UGLY! It is basically a COT with a Mustang nose. Not even a fastback like a Mustang. Now if it was a real Mustang....I say yes!! Chevy has already told NASCAR No Thank You.

  • I agree with what "vandaman" said. Mustangs and Cameros racing would be awesome. I would be first in line to get tickets to that race! Those are muscle cars..... They are what I think of when it comes to racing cars.

It is a load of BS. It is just a COT with a spoiler and mustang headlight decals. The car will still run like a POS and be very aero dependant.
