Monitor fades in and out after period of activity?

I have a dual monitor setup on a 64 bit Vista HP Desktop. No matter what screensaver I use (including none) and Power Saver option, the screen fades to black after a few minutes of activity and then the display returns. The cycle repeats every five seconds. Moving the mouse returns the display but it drives me nuts to see the screen constantly go from normal display to black when I'm not using the PC. I'm running out of ideas.

    Goto

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options

Choose High Performance (as power is not an issue seeing as this is a desktop) Choose "Change Plan Settings" make sure "Turn off Display After xx Minutes" is turned to Never and if this does not work it could be faulty drivers but good luck :)

Could you have your pictures set as a screen saver and the file address is wrong, I know you have said you have switched to none could it be running in the background as a stand alone program.

check to see what programs are running.

Does the monitor in question have separate setting controls? ie: Are there buttons on the monitor for changing resolution, horizontal/vertical position etc? Try them.

    Check the power settings.
