Is Jimmy Clausen the most over rated qb in the nation?

Please name 1 good team he has beaten in his career to dispel this line of thinking.

he is 13-17 as a starter with losses to Navy, Army, B.C., and North Carolina Sprinkled in. We aren't even going to touch his record against decent teams. So please make a valid argument for this Clausen Love, and no N.D. Homer bull please.

Update:

I hear that but WHO has he played? I see the hear that but who did those #'s come against?

Nevada, Michicgan, Michigan State, Washington (Not great defenses).

Update 2:

devlish blue Eyes...

Was that not the same argument they made for Brady Quinn? He played on some bad teams? Lets be for real here...

that being said... maybe I was speaking a little too quickly McCoy is def. the most over rated qb in the nation. I apologize.

Update 3:

Chris:

Once again they talked Quinn up too... just because they talk you up doesn't mean that you are good... See Lienhart, Vince Young, and the biggest flop of all Ryan Leaf.

He has good stats, but he doesn't win the big game. I can compare him to Ohio State. They can look good on paper and have good talent, but they can't win the big game and everyone calls them overrated. Claussen puts up big numbers, but put him against USC, Michigan, or even Michigan State, and he struggles. He's the Tony Romo of college football. Overrated.

First off, I'm a Michigan fan and I hate Notre Dame, but Clausen is starting to show everybody why he was so hyped coming out of high school.

He hasn't played the most talented teams, but from what I've seen the kid looks like a pro QB. The arm strength, accuracy and poise in the pocket are all there, and his experience with a pro style offense is just as important.

But to answer your question, no, he's not the most overrated QB in the nation because there's still people out there that think Colt McCoy deserves to go in the first round. I don't know about you, but I don't see much upside in a small guy with a noodle arm that plays in a gimmick offense against borderline awful Big 12 defenses.

If Clausen declares for the draft after this season he should be, and most likely will be, the first QB taken.

I've seen good quarterbacks on losing teams before. He's a good quarterback on a losing team. He has some of the best stats in college football. And when you watch how he handles the ball under pressure, he does a good job. You can't really tell how good or how bad a player is until you watch them play under pressure. NFL talent scouts don't care how good or how bad the team is they play on. They are looking for pure raw talent. That means they could come from a no name division 3 team or a team that loses every game.

You have to watch how they peform. And Jimmy Clausen performs well.

Louis Holtz is biased, but he is right that Jimmy Clausen is very good. And this is the closest I've seen Notre Dame to beating USC in a long long time. Clausen made a good come-from-behind run against USC.

He has a QB rating of 166.4 which is third in the nation. He also has 1,804 yards and 14 TDs with only 2 interceptions. Sounds pretty good to me.

This alone is enough to show how good he is. He may have not been too good in his first two seasons at ND, but this year is another story. His stats speak for themselves.

I'm an ND fan, but even if I weren't, I would think he is good. Any conscience football fan should realize he's a good QB with the kind of stats he has.

    I'm sorry, he's not overrated.

Edit: Yeah, he's played pretty crummy teams, but consider his stats against USC:

    24/43 (56%)

    260 yards

    2 TDs.

I think that's pretty good against the #1 defense in the country.

Daniel M: that's a true football fan, not biased against a team he hates.

Most games he goes into, his team is seriously over-matched talent-wise.

Like this weekend. Barkley was throwing to wide open receivers, Clausen was throwing to receivers with DB's hanging all over them.

Or put it this way, if Florida traded Tebow for Clausen, which team would benefit & which would suffer??

    It's obvious, isn't it?

Source(s): Elway had a losing record his Senior year at Stanford.

Does not matter what his record is...look at his ratings and TD's to INT's. He has been running a Pro style offense for 4 years. The guy has the BEST chance in the NCAA to be a solid pro athlete. He has a ton more upside to compete in the NFL than Colt Mccoy, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Terrel Pryor. Just wait...the NFL scouts will be talking him up soo much at the combine.

He's over rated and plays one of the weakest schedules in College Football...I would just like to see how he would play against an awesome defense like Alabama's...I can guarantee...at least four sacks...two to three interceptions...and no TDs...he'll be picking himself up off the ground all day, and probably would fake an injury to get out of the game...ND needs to step up and play real teams...not glorified High School teams...ROLL TIDE!!!! MARK INGRAM FOR HEISMAN!!!
