White house against free speech (curious to hear liberals on this)?
With the white house's recent stunt trying to exclude fox news from the media pool to talk with the pay czar. The rest of the media says no its all of us or none of us. Regardless of anyones opinion of fox should we be scared about this? How much further will the white house try to silence dissent. Any liberals care to explain im curious to hear your opinion on this recent stunt. How does anyone justify somthing like this
the huffington post is not a news station. Bush or his admin still went on almost the stations. Obama is too scared to come on fox. He already had a interview with oreilly and he said that was a good one. why cant he go on there. He would rather talk to univision then fox news.
So its bad for fox to say things about obama yet its completely ok for the left to call bush hitler?
sure lets have the fcc shut them down cause their conservatives. god forbid someone has a different opinion than the white house. there is a saying that goes something like I may disagree with your views but i will fight to the death so you can say it. (may have missed a few words)
Remember the key words are free speech. do liberals care about that anymore or just free speech if they talk?

During World War II, if a "news" station had waged a libelous campaign against the president, using lies and distortion to influence public opinion while encouraging the opposition party to obstruct the president's wartime policies and economic recovery plans, I think they would have been closed down - by angry citizens. Well, now we're in two wars and a major recession. If the citizens are too uneducated to reject FOX propaganda, the government still has an obligation to protect the rest of us from their counterproductive ravings.

Fox news is evil? As one responder said? Have you even bothered to watch or have you just been drinking the kool aid while wearing your tin hat? Look, all the cables have news segments and opinion shows. So don't tell me that CNN or MSNBC doesn't express bias in their opinion shows! They are in the tank for Obama and together they want to marginalize Fox News because Fox News uses FACTS! Why do you think the White House wont allow anyone to go on the Sunday Fox shows? Because Chris Wallace checks facts!!! Stop being a bonehead and open your mind(s). The White House has no business determining who is or isn't a legitimate news operation and by not inviting Fox News who is a paying contribute to the press pull since 1993 is just plain ridiculous. They are acting like school yard bullies over there at the White House and instead of coming out on top, they have egg on their faces. The American people are sick of the policies, wasteful spending and the lack of jobs and two wars and the White House wants to stick its tongue out and wage a war of words with a news network? In a democracy. We should all be scared and angry. If they go after whoever criticizes the administration, eventually no one will be left!

The liberals don't realize that other media have defended Fox on this issue. And we should be frightened by an administration trying to control the media this way.
If they would bother picking up a history book that focuses on past administrations, they would realize that past Presidents who tried to do this are now regarded as some of the worst Presidents in American history.
EDIT: Kman, there is a HUGE difference between not inviting and attempting to prohibit a certain news organization from attending press conferences. Get back to us when you understand what that difference is.

Not inviting a particular news station to a press conference is by no means equivalent to shutting down or censoring the station. So to refer to this as a free speech discussion is somewhat disingenuous.
I think at some point you have to draw the line between honest reporting and a political agenda. I mean, President Bush never invited the Huffington Post to the White House and I certainly don't blame him.
I think that Fox News has by far the most obvious agenda of the major news networks. For example - at this very moment on Fox News' website, there's a front page news article titled "YOU Can Still Stop Obamacare". Not the facts on health care, not a pair of opposing viewpoints, not even a prefix of "op/ed". A flat out endorsement in the 'news' section.
I think that is a gross violation of journalistic integrity, and sadly it's doesn't seem to be an isolated incident in Fox's case. Other networks are far from perfect, but the "all networks have some bias, therefore it's a wash" logic I hear from Fox news supporters is insane - the difference in frequency and severity from Fox is huge.

I agree with "Kman" and to Michelle L. time after time msnbc has been able to prove that FOX is no more than just lies. They show the viewers quotes and videos that show them contradicting themselfs all the time or just correct them whenever they try and bend the truth. FOX tells it with out sources or audio nor video proof for allmost any of there arguments. I have'nt seen fox try to prove msnbc wrong by showing any evidence.

KMAN - you are a dope.. THe Huffington Post?? You are comparing the Huffington Post to FOX news? The Huffington Post is a liberal website - FOX news is a respected news organization with a long history.. Give me a break.

Its good for FOX's ratings, so they don't really care. All it does is make the white house look thin skinned and unprofessional.

Fox News is pure evil. They constantly say things they should not be allowed to say. One day it will be illegal for anyone to say the things that are said on that channel. I can't wait until the FCC shuts them down!! That is not how to serve our President!
