red line going up my arm..?
I woke up this morning.. and my pointer finger was swollen, and in pain. Alittle earlier today I noticed a red line running down that finger and half way up my arm already. I dont' have any wounds but I do bite my nails. could that be the cause of this? and could it be blood poisioning? my whole hand is starting to hurt now. I doon't have insurance so I wanted to make sure it was absolutely necessary if I have to go to the ER.

ANYTIME you have a red line going up your arm get to the ER. You may have been bitten by a bug and not know it but a red streak going up your arm can be very dangerous, yes, it can be blood poisoning but only a Dr can tell you if it is or not.

I would say it's probably from biting your nails and it sounds like blood poisoning. I would go to the Emergency Room at your Hospital now.

I'm NOT a doctor so please don't take this answer in lieu of medical advice...but I know when people get bitten by a black widow spider a line appears on ones body...maybe you were bitten by a spider...try webmd.com for more answers...hope this helps!!!!
