Yes it is a Christian country. It would be so much nicer if those who are not Christian respected this their host country.

England is constitutionally an Anglican nation, and Scotland is Presbyterian. But "Britain" is NOT officially Christian - neither Northern Ireland nor Wales has an established church. As for the Queen - she is the head of the Church of England, but is also -paradoxically- the head of the Church of Scotland, which is rather different. But outside of England or Scotland, this has no bearing on her constitutional status. She is also the Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a host of other constitutionally secular nations.
About 70% of British people identify as "Christian," making this by far the largest single religious group. In terms of actual religious observance, however, only about 10% of British people regularly go to Church, and of these about half are Roman Catholic. It is estimated that there will soon be more practicing Muslims in the UK than regular church-goers. It is arrant nonsense to claim that there are more mosques than churches, but many churches have only small congregations in contrast to large urban mosques. Overall, however, it must be admitted that the UK is overwhelmingly pluralistic culturally, and it is becoming more so. It seems increasingly archaic to refer to the UK as a "Christian" nation, and many church leaders would themselves reject this label.

It was until this government gave every resident not a Christian priority over those who were not Christians.
Using a copying machine in a local library recently I immediately followed a local Labour Councillor who had used the machine with his free secret code. Having paid for my copies and taken them, it wasn't until I got home that I realised that I had also picked up one of his copies that he had forgotten to collect when he left.
It contained part of his manifesto for the London May 2010 borough elections, promising everything but also it had a pledge that they would destroy the Church Schools. Of course it only mentioned C of E and RC schools, the word mosque did not appear.

No it is not. When did you last poke your face in a church just for the sake of it, or pray (aka "talking to yourself")?
Britain is secular, and the conversion to atheism is almost complete.
Legal position - despite the monarch being head of the Church of England (of which 4/5ths of us have no connection with), and the bishops in the House of Lords, what happened to Ecclesiastical courts? Disbanded and all their authority passed to the civil courts.

Aspiring to be french: the so called statelet of NI does have an established church its called the Roman Catholic church, more than half of the population of the so-called statelet of NI belong to it. The reason why the statelet called NI refuses to recognise this fact is because their Protestant religions are so screwed up they don't even know what church they are. Pres free pres church of Ireland, methodist 7th day adventists baptists, Where as the proper established church in Ireland has one branch, the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

Christianity has a predominant place in the UK but there are also many other faiths operating. It appears that Islam is becoming very much stronger and as the Muslims continue to multiply at a faster rate that Christians then in years to come there is no doubt that the balance of power could well change.

Historically.
Most people in the UK do not follow a religion. How often do you hear people say they are going to church? Or read the bible? And how many people do you see wearing a cross around their neck?
Some people say they are Christian but don't go to church, read the bible, pray or wear a cross. That's just like saying im a vegetarian but eat meat. It's like that with most religions in the UK nowadays.
