If you're hinting on the 2012 thing, then no, not at that time. 2012 is basically a myth, considering that that date is when the Mayan calendar was supposed to restart. Nothing specific what so ever. Just restarting the stupid calendar. I think that people have just over dramatized this whole thing just because the Mayans were a group of beings that achieved higher than average intelligence. Which in my opinion, we might not even know that the Mayans existed, considering there is no trace of their existance. What if some other tribe just made those things up, and referred what was really their work as to being done by "The Mayans"? Maybe I think too much...None the less I think this 2012 stuff is bogous.

Well, they already are in the sense that they play a big roll in pop culture. Is an alien gonna come over and watch TV with you any time soon? I doubt it, but who knows?
