What is wrong with my toilets?

is the city working on the drain pipes in your area?

they might be using a pressure cleaner that is blowing back into the pipes blowing out your water in the toilets.

First there should be no back pressure from flushing the mains.This has to do with flushing sediment from fresh water pipes not septic lines. There are two reasons for this. One is that most homes should have a back flow check valve in the sewer line. Two is that any back pressure should have gone out the the septic vent pipe on the roof.I would start with the septic vent pipe first. Then find out if you have a back flow check valve.If you have no check valve get one put in. You don't want anything that goes out that pipe coming back in. Do you hear gurgling in the sink when you flush or when you drain the tub? If so your system is not properly vented.

Yes, and it was at the mall too. I worked night shift, so this was in the morning a few hours after I left work. I was so tired I couldn't see straight. I managed to walk past the urinals without even noticing them and into the stall. I was trying to go without touching anything ... I couldn't believe how filthy it was, when I heard the sound of someone peeing. Funny, I hadn't heard anyone go into one of the stalls. So I finished up and walked out ... there was a guy standing at the urinals, you should have seen him trying to hide. He wasn't done yet, so there wasn't any place for him to go LOL I was so tired and surprised that I just stood there for a minute looking at him, stunned. Then I left, quickly. I was so embarassed I made a bee line for my car and went home. I wonder how that poor guy must have felt.

you might have a a clog somewhere deep in your pipes on the way to the sewer line. The toilets in my apartment wouldn't flush right and then they'd have like no water in them....they'd also make weird gurgling noises sometimes and I was having water come back up in my bathtub too so you might want to check that.

Sounds as if you had back pressure from sewer lines being repaired, or cleaned by the city.

boot " seems right on this one, i had the same thing,, the city was flushing the mains in the area, it pushes back to others houses too, cleanup time, covered part of my wall too, ufda
