Yes. In fact one might almost be able to say there are no other kinds!

I derive my criteria for having a philosophy from the origin of the word. (I didn't choose "Wordweevil" for nothin'!) Philosophy is compounded of the ancient Greek words for love and wisdom. It, therefore is love of wisdom. Wisdom is not mere knowledge, but it is knowledge that facilitates having a good and productive life.

My personal philosophy is also derived from the orgin of words. Particularly of the word translated from the ancient Hebrew as LORD God, with "Lord" printed in small caps in the King James Bible. I've read on a number of occasions that some scholars believe that it is derived from a word meaning Constantly Becoming. The scholars of King James, in translating the story of Moses' exchange with the burning bush, came up with I AM the I AM that I AM. Those meanings, coupled with the English word, "Lord", which referred to an authoritative person brought me to the question of who I am.

My personal philosophy is that I am the constantly becoming I am that I am - and that you are! I am conscious awareness of this sensory apparatus in this time and this place now. I have volition and can act. My primary action is to take sense data, experiencial and vicarious knowledge and memory and construct from it a working model of the world. By working model I mean one effective in predicting and controlling events in order to fulfil my needs and desires as well as possible.

Key components of that working model, that paradigm, are the virtues which are my ideals. They include modesty, contentment, diligence, generosity, equity, temperance and fortitude. My ideals, ideally, govern my life. That is to say they are my "Lord". Or, to coin a cliche, my Lord God. (In whose image I strive, however ineptly, to create my character.)

I think you can have a personal philosophy. And I believe mine is "The weak hinder us." A return to darwinism. It's just the way I see it. Girls don't want the scronny sissy guy anyways, so how is this any different? All I'm saying is don't let the retards, uglies, weakling and born handicap people reproduce. Gays are a genetic defect too, but honestly for some reason I kinda don't care, besides, they won't be having any children.

Don't hold this against me all weak people.

Accept what is. You can change it, but why? It is taking you down a path you've never been. It might be interesting.

This isn't a professional's answer, but based on my experience. Everyone has a personal philosophy, whether or not they write it down/acknowledge it is up to them. But to me, a personal philosophy is how you choose to live your life. What standards you want to live up to, what things you want to be remembered for, etc. Also the things you've learned from experiences in your life that have shaped the way you specifically believe. I spent a while a few months ago pondering over all the important things I want to live up to throughout my life and here's what I came up with...

I decided on certain terms that are going to sum up the qualities I want to have as a person, and then there were a few quotes that truly spoke about the type of life I want to live.

    Terms:

Independence – self-sufficiency. The ability to provide for myself, to take care of myself without the need of help from others.

Competence – The ability to do what I need. To be good enough. To feel good enough.

Humbleness – To take compliments in stride, to be proud of myself and who I am without becoming conceited. Displaying confidently but not conceitedly that I am proud to be me. As well as remaining open-minded to new ideas that may make more sense than my current set of ideas. Not being stubborn and set in my beliefs if something better comes along.

Optimism – To take whatever comes at me and use it to the best of my ability. To look on the bright side regardless of what happens. To accept that everything that happens can have a positive effect and try to utilize it.

Wisdom – To learn from my mistakes. To truly ponder things and to use my best judgment in all my decisions.

Knowledge – To continue to learn anything I deem important throughout my life.

Success – To achieve any goal I desire.

Not caring what others think (Detachment) – To be myself and do what I believe is right regardless of what others may think.

Love/Trust/Belief in Myself – To trust that I am being the best that I can be, and loving myself for it.

Enjoyment/Happiness – To do the things that make me happy, no matter what they are. To have infinite amounts of good times to look back on.

Honesty – To be true to myself, to never pretend to be something I am not. For others, or for myself. To take responsibility for my actions.

Love/Relationships – To love passionately and truly without a regret or a suppressed feeling. To find the select few in the world that deserve it, and put my trust in them completely. To aid them in any way possible and to make their lives better, simply because they deserve it. To be completely loyal in all respects.

Valor – To take on anything I see fit with valor. To never turn down an opportunity because of fear or doubt in my abilities.

Passion – To follow my passions and pursue everything I do passionately. To never be half-assed about something.

Beauty – To take care of myself and to learn to be comfortable with the way I look… doing what I can along the way to make this easier.

Strength – To live life master of my own destiny, to stand behind the things I believe. To be strong enough to take the hard route if it makes more sense, regardless of the challenge. To not make up god because I’m too sad to deal with the fact that there’s no meaning in life.

^That last one kind of reflects my atheism... xD

And for the quotes/phrases that sum up my ideals kind of...

"It is better to sacrifice life than to forfeit morality. It is not necessary that we live, but it is necessary, so long as we live, we do so honorably."

    -Immanuel Kant

    Pretty much self explanatory.

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

-I honestly don't remember where I heard this one..

Meaning that whatever I do during my life will be forgotten and that I'm not extremely special and I won't be remembered... kind of depressing when you think about it. But probably true.

"Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future."

-Can't remember right now who said this.. but it's the english translation of the "Carpe diem" phrase.

Meaning that living in the moment is important, because any one of us could die tomorrow.

"Live life the master of my destiny."

    -All That Remains

Meaning that I am going to control my life and do what I want. I will not be controlled by someone else.

I will be incredibly surprised if you actually read through all of that, hahaha... But it is my personal philosophy. I hope that's what you meant, xD
