Will chicken poop kill my lemon tree?
Before I planted my meyer lemon tree i put fresh chicken poop, nothing else with it, at the bottom of the hole and then put the tree on top. Will this be too much for it and kill it, if so what should i do? Thanks

some people are forgetting its a lemon tree.....wont burn because the plant loves stuff thats acidic...throwing urine on it will help just as much, lemon trees are hardy, for that sort of thing...if your worried, wee on it that will settle it down....

Our neighbours put a chicken coop beside the fence where the lime tree is. We got so many limes from 1 tree , we were selling the excess to the fruit shop. I'd be putting a bag of potting mix on top of the chookpoo so the roots get a good start in the new position before they're exposed to so much fert . Once a plant has enough nitrogen , it stops taking in water , so be careful.

if this stuff is fresh has not decayed to degree that it does not smell like ammonia ,...yes it will kill the tree the only way to use this fertilizer is to let decay first.... then use it sparing around the tree if used right it is one of the best there is ...but the way you have set it up in the bottom of the hole ...ammonia in it is going to burn your tree up in other words it is to too strong take tree back out of the hole and remove the stuff from the hole you will notice a very strong smell this is the ammonia in it all you need to do is put the tree in the hole fill in the hole wet it down good at least for a week or so water it every day a good soaking watering will get rid of voids in around the roots that will also cause you problems after the tree hass started to go then you can fertilize it just look at the outside tips of the tree limbs where they stop the tips of them is called the drip lines just under these tips of the tree is where the trees roots takes in it food this where you need to put fertilizer if it needs it when it starts producing feed it just before and right after it blooms and when it quits bearing fruit for year hop this helps douglassmith1957@yahoo.com

Chicken poop is strong, it may burn your lemon tree and it may not. If you put a layer of dirt between the root ball and the poop it may protect it from the concentration of the poop. Next time make sure its sun dried and mixed well with other compost before you use it on plants.

One of the concerns I have is not merely the question of how "hot" the uncomposted chicken manure is, but rather, the fact we are heading into winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
Even if the chicken manure does not burn the roots, it would stimulate new growth just before the first frosts come in, and the tender new growth would be killed when the frosts come in.
Unless you are in the Southern Hemisphere, or a near tropical area of the Northern Hemipshere, it is unwise to give nitrogen fertilizers in late October.

Depends on how much you put in there. Chicken manure is very strong and will burn plants if it isn't composted. If it was a large amount you might want to dig it up and replant it with some milder stuff. Cow manure can be used straight but chicken, Turkey and horse manure should be composted first or used sparingly.

I had an ant problem with the bowl of cat food interior the abode. they could locate it and all night long could be getting into it. i got here upon they hate petroleum jelly and could no longer bypass it.according to danger attempt smearing some on the trunk for a 6" or so distance .do no longer depart any gaps for them to bypass the goo.First hose the tree down rather stable so there are not any or very few ants interior the branches. Then positioned the jelly everywhere in the trunk. shop utilising because it wears off in the process the year.

Chicken manure is one of the best fertilizers for citrus trees. But you have to use it properly as it will burn your tree. Ask at your local plant nursery about using it.

Not good. Fresh any poop is toxic to plants. You need to compost it first.

no it will be fine since you buried it and mix it in with the dirt.
don't put more on top of the ground though, it could burn it.
compost it first, mix it in with leaves and grass clippings.
