My version of Windows is XP 2001/Do I have to upgrade?
I've had the same PC since 01/2002 and have never upgraded Windows other than usual updates.
Because Windows 7 is now out do I have to upgrade to the new Windows or Mac due to losing any support for the older versions? Especially the one I have that is 8yrs old now.
Will I lose the ability to do any future updates on my version and if so, what desktop or laptop would you most recommend as if I have to buy Windows 7, I might as well get a new PC.
I'm on Broadband but it is very slow due to the age of my PC, hard drive being close to full, and never upgrading from Windows XP 2001.
Please help me PC lovers and thanks...

Microsoft has made it clear that they will not be dropping support for Windows XP any time soon. It is installed on the vast majority (65%-80% depending on whose numbers you use) of Windows-based computers.
As long as you keep Windows XP fully updated, and that the computer it is running on serves your needs, there is no reason to upgrade.
By the time Microsoft does stop supporting Windows XP, your computer's hardware will be very out of date any way.
Also, I read your comment about hard drive space. Large-capacity hard drives are really cheap these days. You can get a 1tb drive for ~$100 on the internet. One of those would solve your storage problem easily.

Best solution is to buy a new Computer. No need to buy memory or Windows 7. Buy the time you buy those 2 you can already invest in a brand new up to date computer that comes with more than enough hard drive space, memory, and usually offering free Windows 7 upgrade. The weird thing about Microsoft is that Vista is not even stable yet and now Windows 7? IMO I'd stick with Vista for now.

You dont necessarly have to update to windows 7. Upgrading to any other flavor of windows wont fix your computers speed. A memory upgrade would probably do you much better. Once youve done that then you can consider upgrading to Windows 7
