is the parent of a pregnant teen obligated to support the teen's baby? FLORIDA.?
I have a teen daughter that doesn't live with me. If she were to get pregnant, would I be required to pay more child support? will my responsibilities and/or obligations change? FLORIDA.
I already know for a fact that a child does not become emancipated by just getting pregnant, despite common beliefs.

No. The baby's father would be required to pay support for HIS child. Not you.
Although it WOULD be your grandbaby, you know, and you might want to fire out some cash just to be nice. But I don't think the courts would order you to pay more for something that was out of your control.
The only way I can see your support increasing is if your divorce settlement required you to pay half of your daughter's medical expenses. Her medical needs would naturally be greater during pregnancy.

No. When a teenager has a child, they are considered to be an emancipated minor when it comes to issues concerning their child. The teen's parents are in no way responsible for the teen's child.
EDIT: Yes, that is true a teen does not become emancipated merely by getting pregnant. They are still a minor but are considered to be an emancipated minor in issues concerning their child only. In all other aspects of life, they are still considered to be a minor.

How or why does the State --any state--think a pregnant teenager is responsible enough to make decisions for an infant is beyond me. IF they were responsible they would not got pregnant in the first place. I have heard of girls suing their parents for on going child support for them and their babies.. "You owe to me. You have to take care of us." That kind of thinking is common.

I would think child support for your daughter's baby would come from the father of the baby, or HIS parents.

Once a child under 18 has a baby, they become emancipated.
So no.
But get her B.C. to prevent this.
