Has Joe Girardi lost it?!?!?!?

whoops I meant to put...

"the Yankees SHOULDN"T be using personal catchers!" Not "should"! My mistake!

Update:

Moves Joe Girardi is making for game 2 of the World Series--

1. Jerry Hairston jr. in for Nick Swisher

2. Jose Molina in for Jorge Posada

These move seem completely idiotic to me! we need all of the bats we can get! The Yankees should be using personal catchers when it's the difference between going 1-1 or 0-2!

Maybe I'm overreacting, feel free to tell me so if you think I am. But is it just me, or is Girardi forgetting the importance of this game?

Update 2:

I should say that I'm most shocked at the Jose Molina for Jorge Posada thing. I should have seen this coming I know, but last start, things seemed better with Jorge in.

The Jerry thing perplexes me, but you have to know Burnette boy needs Molina. He better pitch a good game.

He Only Put in Hairston Because He Had Successful Numbers Against Pedro Like 5 Years Ago. And He Put In Molina Because Him And Burnett Together Have Better Numbers Than Burnett And Posada.

Well Burnett has shown that he pitches better with Molina behind the plate rather than Posada.. and knowing the Phillies have a very strong line-up and after seeing them hit last night, the Yankees need their pitching to be as strong as possible. Hairston is 10-for-27 lifetime against Pedro so I guess Girardi thought he'd be a good substitute for Swisher.. who has been slumping this entire postseason, not just last night.

What? No, he hasn't lost it! He is making smart decisions! I'm sure Swisher will sub into the game at some point, but if he was slumping, perhaps Hairston Jr. can do a bit better. And if it takes Molina to get Burnett a win, then go ahead and use him! Molina has had clutch hits in the past, so don't think he can't hit.

I kind of agree with the Jerry Hairston for Nick Swisher. Swisher has done nothing offensivly for the Yankees... so Girardi feels the need to try something different.

I do agree with you about Jorge. He needs to be in there playing. He has a better bat than Molina. I can't help but feel A.J. is using Jorge as an exscuse for him not playing well.

I think Girardi should have had Eric Heinske on world series roster to take over for Swisher. Molina for Posada is hard but Brunett & Posada are just not on the same page. The relief pitching decisions Girardi makes sometimes concerns me.

  • From what i heard the reason he's using Jerry Hairston jr is b/c he has a history of doing well against Pedro. As far as the thing with Molina that's a broken record. Hopefully it won't cost them the series.

I give him the benefit of the doubt. I figure he knows his team better than we do. That's we he's managing them and we're talking on Yahoo. I remember Molina from the Angels and he is a very good defensive catcher and though he doesn't hit for average , he's a great man to have up in a clutch situation.

AJ better pitch well with Molina with all the controversy that it will cause if he doesn't.

Thats a touchy situation, the Phillies had similar problems when McCarver caught all of Carlton's games in the late 70s.

Since when is a pitcher above the rest of the team to have a personal catcher.

Yankees need the pitching to be solid, considering they are capable of hitting well off Pedro... so putting Molina in isn't such a bad idea

now, Swisher hasn't done a damn thing so what could it hurt....

and to put it bluntly Joe Girardi sucks horribly as a manager, so granted many things he chooses are wrong but these decisions are smart ones as far as I'm concerned
