Hate is an emotion, or a thought.

Emotions are not illegal, and neither are thoughts.

Who decides what IS and what IS NOT hate...?

Why are "Hate Crimes" only leveled at white males...?

Why are "Hate Crimes" never leveled at minorities...?

He did not sign any "hate crime " bill. It was a defense spending bill. What does that little addendum have to do with defense?

Every member of Congress should have voted against this bill, it never should have been sent to the Presidents desk.

What is more "hate crime" is just a term to incite an emotional response in the public. What did it make a crime that was not already a crime?

Don't like it. The substance of the legislation is an effort to prosecute “thought crimes” in which the motivation of the attacker has to be discerned. Prosecute the crime and leave the thought police out of it.

Eric Holder stated that the bill will not protect everyone from "hate crimes," only those people who belong to groups that have historically been the target of such crimes. If the attorney general has this stance then prosecution will be selective and that is wrong.

I wear glasses. I want a hate crime law passed to make it a Federal crime to assault anyone that wears glasses. I want an enhancement of the penalties on anyone that assaults someone wearing glasses. We have laws on the books that cover assault already. In the 60's in my state of Ca. if you hit your wife you went to jail. If she hit you it was a civil problem. It is special rights. Where is the equality under the law. If the punishment is enhanced because some one is gay or because of their gender. Suppose two gay women fight does that make it a hate crime also against the other. Assault is assault. The problem I have seen so far with Hate Crime Legislation is that it is one sided. White on Black crime has it applied. Black on White does not, as we saw recently with the murder of Christian and her boy friend. Seven Black men killed her boy friend and raped and sodomized her. The cut her breast off while she was still alive then tortured her to death, yet that was not a hate crime.

Additional. Two homosexual men killed the Curly child. In this case the 13 year old was bound and one of his assailants ate a sandwich while the other took his turn and sodomized him as he chocked to death on his underwear that had been forced into his mouth. Should a hate crime law apply here or is that different because homosexuals committed it.

In time it will wear off and people will get probation for doing a so called hate crime .

look at all the people that get killed daily in all colors most get light sentences .

my opinion the gov should protect children more but there are to many liberal judges giving a slap on the wrist to guys that do harm to children.

Obama only signed this bill to appease the far left groups who he is afraid of.

For good or bad, it's a way to get the Feds right in the middle of a prosecution that would normally be handled by the state in which the crime occurred. For the most party, I'm happy that when someone decides to commit a 'hate' crime, the Feds come in and jump up and down on them. It almost makes we want Gitmo to stay open so that the hate crime perpetrators could be sent there to rot forever.

Post the bill and I'll let you know! Im guessing if its passed and if it was passed by someone in his admin its for the greater good of the democratic party and not for the people of this country.

How sad the white male hetero judges couldn't just protect those who do not break the law. But, this is America.

To have prejudiced thoughts is normal. To act on those thoughts is cowardice.
