Does the bible really say that God is a tyrant and will pinish the wicked?

in a fire that burns forever? Could we be misunderstanding what the bible is really telling us?, Lets check it out and see.....

Matthew 25:46...." And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. "

Notice that Jesus did not say the wicked will suffer " everlasting punishing "....but He did say " everlasting punishment ".

Punishing is an on going process.

Punishment has a definate ending.

What is the punishment for sin ? " Them that know not God....shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presense of the Lord " 2 Thessalonians 1:9......

There it is!!...plainly spelled out. The punishment is destruction, and it is of eternal duration. In other words , it is a destruction which never ends because there will be no resurrection from that destruction.

Paul says " The wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23.......and John describes that death as ' the secound death " in Revelation 21:8....that death , or destruction , will be eternal.

WE either get eternal life.....or.....eternal death.........its that simple.

Update:

presence....pardon me

Update 2:

Sin is a sickness, and if people refuse to go to Jesus for healing from this sickness, God has no choice but to destroy them.....no more life support, He must pull the plug and rid the world of sin once and for all.

God is not a tyrant. The proof is He didn't create us as robots, but He created us with free will to choose between right and wrong. Unfortunately, many humans prefer choosing the large and wrong path, rather than choosing the narrow and right path:

    "15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

16In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

    17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."

    Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (KJV)

Telling that the second death is eternal sufferings doesn't make any sense for many obvious reasons.

If damned souls were able to live eternal life in eternal sufferings, that would mean they have eternal life in themselves, see what I mean?

You have to believe the false doctrine coming from greek and pagan cultures telling people that human soul is immortal, independently from God. Only God is source of immortality. That means every human soul is mortal, and only God can give us eternal life.

Another reason is that would not make any sense Satan and all his demons and followers would have eternal life in eternal sufferings, that would make them equal to God if they have eternal life in themselves, see what I mean?

That's the proof this false doctrine of eternal life in eternal sufferings is for the benefit and the glory of Satan: Clearly this is a doctrine of demons coming straight from the mouth of the serpent to deceive the whole world, and if possible even the elected ones:

" And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil."

    Genesis 3: 4-5

The other reason is if God was able to see eternal sufferings of His ancient people and ancient angels, that would make Him a cruel God who takes pleasure in sufferings of other people. But God don't take pleasure in the death or sufferings of anyone, even if it's a wicked person:

" Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? "

    Ezekiel 18:23

God want to save every one in the world:

" 46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. "

    John 12:46-47

" 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

    1 Timothy 2: 3-4

God has good plans and purposes for us:

" 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. "

    Jeremiah 29:11

Well, due to the fact tyranny is headquartered to your factor of view. Christians are gonna suppose he isn't a tyrant, Atheists the reverse. Americans considered George III a tyrant, the British now not such a lot. Only assumptions may also be made, now not proofs. In truth, nobody can use the Bible to end up some thing.

Does the bible really say that God is a tyrant and will pinish the wicked?

doesn't say that He is a tyrant, but does say the wicked will be punished.

Rev 14:20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

a thousand and six hundred furlongs; about 200 miles.

2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall DESTROY with the brightness of his coming:

God certainly warns of punishment or rather that His holiness and justice will be revealed to all and totally satisfied. But Tyranny is something that applies to the Devil as the opponent of all that is good both in this world and the next.

So wickedness and evil is allowed to flourish , more so as we experience the End times in our own generation.

There is a "get out clause" to put it in modern jargon.

Holiness and justice is met only through the Passover sacrifice of Gods own Son. Like the Judge offering to cancel the indictment and receive the punishment you refer to but in His own body.

    But you know that already.

So we never see God called "tyrant" in the Bible, neither is there any such inference.

The tyranny is of the Devil, of course, whom with His angels seeks the destruction of Gods children at all costs.

As in politics and warfare all that align themselves with the tyrant suffer the consequences of their treason but as for all your quotations (snap ) does it matter how this pans out in practice ?

Scary to risk such a downward path.

God is not a Tyrant. The Bible actually says that "GOD IS LOVE." Yes, He will judge the wicked at the end of time. This is why it is so important that we obey his word. We must keep his Commandments and repent of our Sins.

    Romans 6:23

Punishment is a noun. As such, it does not include an indication of time. Verbs include indications of time, with the exception of infinitives. Your point fails.

The text says "everlasting punishment." It's an eternal, never ending state.

EDIT--Eternal death isn't much of a motivator to someone who thinks any death is eternal.

    I agree.

Gehenna (The lake of fire) is a place of eternal punishment - not punishing.

The second death from which ALL life ceases and there is no resurrection.

GOD'S Judgments Are Just, Perfect And Righteous. What are the attributes of God? What is God like? Answer: The Bible, God’s Word, tells us what God is like and what He is not like. Without the authority of the Bible, any attempt to explain God’s attributes would be no better than an opinion, which by itself is often incorrect, especially in understanding God (Job 42:7). To say that it is important for us to try to understand what God is like is a huge understatement. Failure to do so can cause us to set up, chase after, and worship false gods contrary to His will (Exodus 20:3-5). Only what God has chosen to reveal of Himself can be known. One of God's attributes or qualities is “light,” meaning that He is self-revealing in information of Himself (Isaiah 60:19; James 1:17). The fact that God has revealed knowledge of Himself should not be neglected (Hebrews 4:1). Creation, the Bible, and the Word made flesh (Jesus Christ) will help us to know what God is like. Let's start by understanding that God is our Creator and that we are a part of His creation (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1) and are created in His image. Man is above the rest of creation and was given dominion over it (Genesis 1:26-28). Creation is marred by the fall but still offers a glimpse of God’s works (Genesis 3:17-18; Romans 1:19-20). By considering creation's vastness, complexity, beauty, and order, we can have a sense of the awesomeness of God. Reading through some of the names of God can be helpful in our search of what God is like. They are as follows: Elohim - strong One, divine (Genesis 1:1)

Adonai - Lord, indicating a Master-to-servant relationship (Exodus 4:10, 13) El Elyon - Most High, the strongest One (Genesis 14:20)

El Roi - the strong One who sees (Genesis 16:13) El Shaddai - Almighty God (Genesis 17:1) El Olam - Everlasting God (Isaiah 40:28)

Yahweh - LORD “I Am,” meaning the eternal self-existent God (Exodus 3:13, 14). God is eternal, meaning He had no beginning and His existence will never end. He is immortal and infinite (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 90:2; 1 Timothy 1:17). God is immutable, meaning He is unchanging; this in turn means that God is absolutely reliable and trustworthy (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Psalm 102:26, 27). God is incomparable; there is no one like Him in works or being. He is unequaled and perfect (2 Samuel 7:22; Psalm 86:8; Isaiah 40:25; Matthew 5:48). God is inscrutable, unfathomable, unsearchable, and past finding out as far as understanding Him completely (Isaiah 40:28; Psalm 145:3; Romans 11:33, 34). God is just; He is no respecter of persons in the sense of showing favoritism (Deuteronomy 32:4; Psalm 18:30). God is omnipotent; He is all-powerful and can do anything that pleases Him, but His actions will always be in accord with the rest of His character (Revelation 19:6; Jeremiah 32:17, 27). God is omnipresent, meaning He is present everywhere, but this does not mean that God is everything (Psalm 139:7-13; Jeremiah 23:23). God is omniscient, meaning He knows the past, present, and future, including what we are thinking at any given moment. Since He knows everything, His justice will always be administered fairly (Psalm 139:1-5; Proverbs 5:21). God is one; not only is there no other, but He is alone in being able to meet the deepest needs and longings of our hearts. God alone is worthy of our worship and devotion (Deuteronomy 6:4). God is righteous, meaning that God cannot and will not pass over wrongdoing. It is because of God’s righteousness and justice that, in order for our sins to be forgiven, Jesus had to experience God's wrath when our sins were placed upon Him (Exodus 9:27; Matthew 27:45-46; Romans 3:21-26). God is sovereign, meaning He is supreme. All of His creation put together cannot thwart His purposes (Psalm 93:1; 95:3; Jeremiah 23:20). God is spirit, meaning He is invisible (John 1:18; 4:24). God is a Trinity. He is three in one, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. God is truth, He will remain incorruptible and cannot lie (Psalm 117:2; 1 Samuel 15:29). God is holy, separated from all moral defilement and hostile toward it. God sees all evil and it angers Him. God is referred to as a consuming fire (Isaiah 6:3; Habakkuk 1:13; Exodus 3:2, 4-5; Hebrews 12:29). God is gracious, and His grace includes His goodness, kindness, mercy, and love. If it were not for God's grace, His holiness would exclude us from His presence. Thankfully, this is not the case, for He desires to know each of us personally (Exodus 34:6; Psalm 31:19; 1 Peter 1:3; John 3:16, 17:3). Since God is an infinite Being, no human can fully answer this God-sized question, but through God’s Word, we can understand much about who God is and what He is like. May we all wholeheartedly continue to seek after Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
