'Creationism' as a political agenda is more of a fraud than a myth. It involves myths, but goes beyond that.
Belief in a supernatural 'creation' for life, or human existence involves a belief in myths and legends. It's misguided, but honestly held.
Creationism, on the other hand, is an attempt to twist those myths, and more importantly to twist scientific understanding and fact, in order to argue a scientific point. Since even the most basic parts of the creation belief system cannot stand up to proper scientific scrutiny, proponents resort to twisting facts, making unsupported claims, outright lies in extreme cases, and basically trying to trick believers into agreeing.
That is not science, it if fraud. It is not misguided, because the proponents KNOW what they are doing is false.
Give me a good honest christian who believes 'because the bible says so" ahead of any 'creation scientist' who makes up facts, picks and chooses evidence, and tries to foist that off as science.

Yes, but more significantly, it is considered to be a pseudo-scientific absurdity.
"Pseudo" means FALSE.
@ Matthew - Science debunked creationism as a gigantic joke a LONG time ago. Delusion and denial on your part does not change this fact. Besides, creation myths have been around since BEFORE the invention of Christianity, which stole their version from the Jews, who stole theirs from earlier religions. Religion poisons everything, especially the mind.

Calling it a myth would be speaking too kindly of it.
The actual scientific world doesn't really talk about creationism except to laugh at it. It's like a chemist wasting valuable research time debating alchemy.
It's really a shame how much money people make off of their 'flocks' by promoting this self serving bologna.

It is the academic term myth meaning a traditional or ancient story explaining common origins.
It simply means it has no physical supporting evidence and has been used throughout a cultural history. The term it's self in the academic sense makes to judgement of true or false.

Yup. Just like milking the universe out of a giant cow or forming it from the dismembered pieces of a giant. 97% of scientists believe that humans and other organisms evolved over time.

Mathew...... Science has never been ale to disprove the flying cup of tea that is too small to see with our teliscopes.... yet no sain person would argue that because we can't disprove it 100% means its true....

Within the scientific world creationism is considered one of many creation myths. I believe; however, that evolution is God's chosen method of creation

Fable; the answers provided by creationism are about as logical as those provided by the tooth ferry.

More a cult used to control American Christians, a cult of myths and falsehoods.

In the scientific world they rely on evidence. There is no evidence for creation.
