Can rain wash my clothes ?

I am trying to save money, can I just hang my dirty laundry outside and wait for a rain storm, and then will the rain wash my clothes, and then wind dry them (after rain), for no cost to me??? I think it would save money on water, detergent, electric, gas and need to buy washer/dryer or spend money in laudromat. Will it work?

No you need the detergent. Try cleaning a paintbrush with only water.....then wash it in detergent and water and you will see the difference. The detergent is what is cleaning your clothes.

Since I try to live green, I appreciate your effort, but the rain is so polluted now that washing your clothes, hair or anything else with it would be a lost cause. Just look at the residue left after rain dries on your car. Wash them by hand with as little soap as possible and line dry. This will save considerably on electricity, gas and detergent.

Always assuming that you live in an area with no pollution so the rain is clean - the rain will wet your clothes and perhaps loosen the dirt. Then the wind will dry them and the dirt will settle back into the fabric, unless the rain is torrential enough to actually swill some of the dirt off. No pain no gain.

it could work- but too many things could go wrong. I understand you want to save money and all for how the economy is, and it's a good thought but here's somethings to keep in mind:

    - during a storm the wind blows hard sometimes, your clothes could blow off the line or end up in the mud

-it takes for ever to dry

-you'll probably end up getting most of your clothes dirtier then clean

    try the sink :)

It wont. Rain is recycled water, it would smell really nasty.

I suggest using your shower while you're taking a shower. I do this for some clothes that i want to wear often and my mom only does the laundry on weekends.

    Hope i helpedd :)

No. Rain can RINSE your clothes and with pollution, it would do a poor job at that.

You need some kind of soap to wash with.
