How much am I going to get back on my taxes?

Ok so to make this as easy as possible to understand. ALL ESTIMATES!! I made just over $10,000 this year. My total taxes are $1800. I just turned 18 and am attending school full-time. I also live with my parents. How much can I expect to get back on my taxes?

THANKS!!!

Update:

Well just so its easier to understand. These are the estimates at the end of the year for everything

FICA - OASDI / $675

FEDERAL - $610

FICA - HI / $170

STATE NY / $170

Totals around $1625...

what should I expect from that..?

You are most likely a dependent of your parents. You should owe around $450 taxes. Subtract that from whatever you paid in for federal withholding and that should be your refund. You don't get back what was withheld for social security and medicare, and without knowing where you live, no way to know what you'll owe for state and local tax, so no real way to give you a number if the $1800 is the total tax that was withheld. If you'll give the breakdown of the withholding, you can get a better answer.

Dear J: Go to www.hrblock.com and plug in your numbers. Their free calculator in very accurate and free. You say your tax is $1800, what is that? With held? Calculated?

Your parents probably can still claim you but you will have to file a return. It looks like you will get a refund of $1200- a WAG!

    There are MANY online calculators.

    Try www.irs.gov or Jackson Hewitt.

Are your parents taking you as a dependent? They SHOULD as you're living at home and they can take tax credits you can't. Depending on how you filled out your W-4 at work you may get a refund, or you may owe taxes when you file your return.

you will be allowed your standard deduction of $5700 leaving $4300 as taxable

if you don't have any education credits(Hope/Lifetime etc) then your tax will probably be $430
