The origional part is the front entrance on College St. build in 1852 and was a school for boys only....called "St Mary's School for Boys". It was added onto and remodled somewhat to become the St. Marys Law school. It was remodled again and more added to become the Hotel in '68 opening in time for the Hemisfair. It is the only 5 star hotel downtown and is where all the Hollywood stars stay as well as the president. ...and you can guess, it's pretty pricy with the honeymoon suit going for over 500 a night and executive suites go for about 1700 a night. During the battle of the Alamo, in 1836, some of Santa Ana's troops set up cannons on the property. There are some historica brochures available in the lobby next time you go there.

Originally built as a school by four brothers of the Society of Mary in 1852. There is also a claim that this was the location of the St. Mary's University law school.

It opened as a hotel in 1968, that I'm positive about.
