    u² + 5uv = 3² + 5·3·1

    Do the exponent first:

    = 9 + 5·3·1

    Then the multiplication

    = 9 + 15·1

    = 9 + 15

    Finally, the addition

    = 24

    given u = 3 and v = 1

    u^2 + 5 u v = ?

where u is put the number 3 and where v is replace it with a 1

    u^2 + 5 u v =

    (3)^2 + 5 * (3) * (1) =

    3*3 + 5 *3 =

    the rest you can solve
