u² + 5uv = 3² + 5·3·1
Do the exponent first:
= 9 + 5·3·1
Then the multiplication
= 9 + 15·1
= 9 + 15
Finally, the addition
= 24

where u is put the number 3 and where v is replace it with a 1
u^2 + 5 u v =
(3)^2 + 5 * (3) * (1) =
