I just had my tires rotated and balanced and the faster I go the louder the tires are?
I have a 06 Scion TC and my tires were making a humming noise and steering wheel began vibrating when driving around 60-70 mph. I took my car to have the tires balanced and rotated (hoping not to need an alignment). Now since I had this done the humming noise on my tires is louder...steering does not vibrate anymore though..Could this be because I have had tires put on 2 are same brand and the other two are each individual brands...could the noise be that these tires just need to wear down some...since this is the actual first time they have been rotated?
Thanks bobweb...but the issue of the directions...when I purchased them I made sure this is not part of the problem.

Tire noise is caused by uneven wear. The uneven wear is caused by either a bad alignment, not rotating the tires frequently enough, improper inflation, worn suspension components or any combination of the above. Depending on how bad the uneven wear is you may just have to live with it until the tires are worn out or you can't stand it and replace them.

Some tires are designed to rotate in only one direction, so you can't swap them to the opposite side of the car. I prefer not to rotate my tires as long as they're wearing uniformly across the tread. Changing the direction of rotation of any tire type can make it more noisy if the tires weren't routinely rotated properly often enough. After 6,000 miles, have the tires rotated back to where they were when they were quieter, and just leave them in that position until you need two new tires in either the front or the back. Then you'll always be replacing the tires only two at a time and you'll always have good tread on the drive wheels if you put the two new tires on the drive wheels (the front for a front wheel drive car).

before you had the tires rotated and balanced, they wore wrong which was making the vibration and noise. now that they are properly balanced the vibration has ceased but they need to wear a bit to relief the roaring noise. only way to get rid of the noise is to replace the tire(s). good luck.

did they keep the tires on the same side? if you switch from side to side then your reversing the belt in the tires and it will act funny on the road. when your rotating the tires you have to keep them on the same side.
