Have to lift heavy things for work?

Question

I am 18 and a half weeks pregnant.  I have to lift heavy bags of dog food for work and put them on a shelf.. the heaviest I have to lift is 40 Ibs..  when the delivery guy drops them off he makes me take them out of the bin.  It is not obvious I am pregnant so I understand why he hasn't stepped in and taken them out himself.. I am so sick of my job constantly putting me into contact with things that are dangerous.  Should I tell this delivery guy I am pregnant and ask him to lift the heavy bags out of the bin?  Then I can ask one of my coworkers when they are available to put them on the shelf.  What do you think?  Have I already caused damage by not speaking up sooner???  I also have to help little old ladies out to the car with their bags.  People are so demanding on a young healthy looking 20 something but they don't realize we might damn well be pregnant!!!!!!!!

You need to let them know you are pregnant, Most people understand and will be willing to help with anything.

You need to speak up.

You are in a very delicate situation right now and you do not want to cause harm to yourself or your baby. People are understanding and will help you out. But you need to say something NOW because no one can read your mind. When I told my boss and co-workers they were all very understanding. It was nice to be able to relax and give myself a break every now and then. You are creating a brand new life and need to take care of you. You deserve it.
